I am a singer, songwriter from Durham, North East England living in Edinburgh, Scotland and I have been writing songs for about 45 years. Influences include 60's,70's, and 80's singer songwriters, and ambient/ soundtrack music. My music is atmospheric, ambient, yet with a pop sensibility. I have performed in Belfast at the Belfast/Nashville Songwriters Festival on two occasions and also in Scotland, solo at Cabaret Voltaire, Haddington George Hotel with my friend Lindsey Mitchell.
I am happy that here on Soundclick people are enjoying my songs, my most recent work is Tower of Blue Horses and I am currently producing new material.
I began writing songs when I was around 15, and began to make recordings with friends, writing periods were intermittent but when I moved to Edinburgh to live, in 2001 I began to write more regularly especially when I bought a Zoom recorder so that I could make better recordings.
My first live performance was at Henry's Jazz Cellar in Edinburgh where I sang Summertime with a jazz trio, shortly followed by a solo spot at Cabaret Voltaire in Edinburgh. After this I played in two concerts organised by Haddington Music Initiative. I performed at Belfast Songwriters Festival for two consecutive years, and participated in work shops led by Billy Bragg, Nik Kershaw, John Oates, Ian Archer among others. I also lead a music group in my work with people with autism. I have recorded professionally with Brit Award winning producer and engineer Iain McKinna. Musicians I have worked with are Derek Cooney (guitarist) Keith Musgrove bass player (Krisis) Lindsey Mitchell, singer/teacher. Catriona Skinner (Cellist) Catriona George (singer) and Paulo Nunes de Moura (singer) and Singer/ Songwriter/ Guitarist, Fraser McMillan. I received a Commended award in the UK Songwriting Contest, organised by the Brits Trust for the song Time Difference ( from the album of the same name), and in 2017, a Higher Commended award for the song Arrow (from the album Mist)
