Throw together a singing activist, a bass tapping medic, a lead guitarist called Rupert and a fiddling Philosopher? It can only be Finnegan's Wake!
A hybrid of Irish Folk and rip-roaring punk music results in good music, good times, a good message and a hell of a lot of fun.
We double dare you not to tap your feet!
We're:
Al Baker - Vocals/Acoustic Guitar
Rupert Noise - Lead Guitar
Andy "Mini" Cav - Bass
The Rt. Hon. Sir James Kemp III - Fiddle
And We're Finnegan's Wake!
Finnegan's Wake formed in late 2004 and have gone from strength to strength. After a few months fine tuning, getting the style right and imbibing enough Guiness to inspire enough songs the Wake has performed at several venues around Manchester and received glowing endorsements from fellow bands, crowds and press.
We have recorded one of our live shows, some of the tracks are available to download here but a full CD is available for the very reasonable price of NOTHING (plus P&P)on request.
Finnegan's Wake are currently in the process of arranging a summer UK tour (the result of several invitations from headline acts) so keep your eyes peeled for a Wake near you soon.
We live for the live show. Recordings are great fun to make and it's brilliant to make sure there are folks who can sing along but there's nothing can equal the fun to be had performing or the fun we hope the crowd has. The cumulative band sweat at the end of a set is testament to the effort and energy in our shows.
Individual influences range from Bach to Bryan Adams but the stlye and songs are influenced by the folk giants such as the Dubliners, Pogues, Christy Moore, Billy Bragg and Phil Ochs and the punk legends of the Clash, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly.
