Bandera Latina
Bandera Latina is a world music group that combines Rumba Flamenca with Latin, Italian and Swing Jazz influences.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Founded 25 years ago by sister and brother Silvana and Salvatore Sichi, Bandera Latina has been regarded by many as one of the best live bands of the Netherlands. Weary of crass commercialism they seek their own path with one single goal: performing the music they love!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Bandera Latina has been playing professionally for 25 years and have seen and done it all. Recently they've started moving away from private events towards a more festival and theatre orientated repertoire.
Your musical influences
Begun as a Gipsy Kings cover band, Bandera Latina's music soon moved towards other styles, influenced by, among others, the Buena Vista Social Club, Renato Carusone, Renzo Arbore, Los Reyes and the Rosenberg Trio.
What equipment do you use?
Lead guitarist Salvatore uses a custom build Leonordus Flamenco guitar for smaller venues and a Godin Multic Nylon Natural SG for bigger stages.
Anything else?
'We just want people to enjoy our music, nothing more, nothing less' - Salvatore Giuseppe Sichi, bandleader
