balete drive: a street along new manila, quezon city. balete drive: the band balete drive music is a mix of modern alternative with a mix of 80s tunes and a little bit of grunge. some have labeled balete drive as new wave with a mix of modern alternative ear-friendly tunes and some also would call them as "shoegazer punk". it's anything under the sun...heck, someone mistook us a foo fighters cover band.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
JP and Mic were bandmates in a previous band. Bache and Mic were classmates in High School. All of us came from the same High School and College. JP and Mic evolved their old band to a new one with Bache. Bri was a batchmate of Mic. Do the Math...
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
yes live...no we dont play dead hahaha...uh yun na yun
Your musical influences
Various...Bache listens to Jimi Hendrix, John Scofield, Al Di Meola...Jazz and 70s stuff basically. JP listens to pop rock and emo like Finch...oh and hip hop too. Mic goes for The Cure, Foo Fighters and Radiohead. Bri listens to Metallica, Dream Theater and Paul Gilbert. Common Denominator for them is the love of Pinoy Bands like the Eraserheads and Rivermaya.
What equipment do you use?
we use an array of guitars...an rj strat, a fender strat, a yamaha pacifica, gibson flying v and an ibanez rg series (if im not mistaken), a fender jazz bass, a pearl drum set and pedals, zildjian jazz sticks and cymbals, fender and marshall for amps, ernie ball and fender for strings, dod, boss and zoom for guitar effects, pentium 4 for recording some rough demos, mitsubishi lancer and a honda civic for transportation, red horse beer, etc
