Bake West
Bake West has seen the glory of the gone world and the Lord. He has seen through the
graveyard eyes and tattered cloths of saints. Here is a testimony of surviving souls and haloed dreams.
He's not asking for a sword. He's just making sense and sound to fill the mortal void.
He's not looking for a hero. He just wants you to believe, interpreting the scene through
a true and tragic sound.
With a hand in Jersey witchcraft and a hand in bathtub gin, he peels his guitar poems
from broken dreams and bottles, to build a house complete.
Immersed in roots of rockabilly and blues, he
plants his seeds and sows his sounds in black-light perfumed dreams.
Have you seen the ghost of John? He's holding hands with Elvis, Hound Dog Taylor,
Hasil Adkins and The Cramps.
Dark, swamp driven, whiskey righteous and twisted.
Bake West's music tells us of people and places we may or may not want to know. Come on, get your smokes and lets go!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
The band notion is history. I have had bands in the past. I find them cumberson. It's most enjoyable to be able to work with different musicians. There is a core that I find myself recording with, plus lots of icing on the cake musicians. I am after all a singer song writer.
Then there is Vin Matland my producer. I have worked with him for 25 years or so. He has produce my music, played drums, procussion and guitar. We have also produced several outside projects. We really dig producing other folks music. I guess you can say it's a way out of the woods. The woods being my own music. Vin and I go way back there is definitely chemisrty.
Vin Matland, Dallas Lux, Crash Gordon and myself. That would be a nice starting line up for any show or project.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
