Alan Oberdorf, songwriter from the band "US" has started a side project with help from some friends and relatives he calls the Bad Owl Project. Much of Alans music in the Bad Owl Project reflects on life in northwest Montana, and Alan's personal take on life in general.
Much of todays music is angry and the lyrics are very cryptic. If you are not well informed on the subject of the song sometimes they are hard to understand. The Bards and Jongulars of Medieval Europe carried news, gossip, and history in prose and song. This type of music has evolved and continues to do so as todays pop and rock songs. Alan calls his music Rural Slowburn, a type of folk influenced by, country rock, rock and other styles. Alan says My music is rough and unrefined, cause Im (Less than Perfect), that is also the title of Alans first CD. Alan's new CD "Acoustic Ignorance" will be released soon.
He hopes people enjoy his music, but if not Pate de Foie Gras and die. (W. Powell 1999)
Have you performed in front of an audience?
When ever and where ever they let me.
Your musical influences
I love all types of music, I use many different types of music for ideas, acoustic guitar and electric, vocals and sometimes drums, the music I think is interesting and different.
