Band/artist history
The Backyard Roots were born in the year 2001. Formed by Steve Ambrosius(Irie-1) and friend Chris Dart. The first incarnation of the group consisted of Chris on drums, Steve on bass and Lymrik/Dank Cat as emcees. We threw a rager at Lymrik's house known as the "7-11" show. On the 4th of July 2002 we played in an off campus apartment near San Diego State. This time we had Matt Murphy from Glickson on Vocals and added our friend Abel Garrison to play guitar. By early 2003, the band seemed to be no more, a memory in people's minds. Now it is late 2004 going into 2005, Lymrik, Irie, and Dank Cat have re-united to pick up the pieces of the puzzle. This is a new era for the hip hoppaz, philosopherz, and poetz of our time.
