First came on the hip hop scene as a solo artist, was prepared to release a solo album but held back because his band began blowing up locally and still is. the oddysey is se to release there demo "Live From Somewhere In California" which features 7 hot live recorded tracks. Jordan Latz is also working on a studio LP with the oddysey, and an album with John Newtron which is due out Winter-Summer of 2004. He is set to release his solo record "Qwantum's Journey Exercise" sometime in the near future when he decides to work on it.
Band/artist history
Jordan A. Latz was born January 21, 1986 in Santa Clara, Ca. He was born without a father, so him and his mother lived alone. Soon after he was born they moved to San Ramon, Ca, which was then a little town north of San Jose,East of San Francisco. When he was six he moved to San Jose where he resides now. His mother worked 2 jobs to keep them in a home, so Jordan was inspired by his grandparents. When Jordan was 12 he began writing poetry to help settle his emotions. His poetry began getting recognized, and soon he moved onto hip hop where he started a group with childhood friends Drew(Skitz),and James(Lil' J Krayzee). At 12 years old, in seventh grade, the 3 friends started writing and soon brought Mat(Poe), and Ashley(Ash) into the scene, but they were to young and to immature and only Jordan wanted to move on. Around 14-15 Jordan began getting a little serious and started recording, he recorded an EP that got stomped on, and he really never released it. He dropped his pen for 6 months, but then his girlfriend Claire told him that it wasn't him to not write, and babbleON was introduced to Atmosphere when he heard "Sound is Vibration". "It just drove a spark in me, that Slug was just flowing and not giving a fuck, being totally different, I thought it was cool." he states about his intro into alternative hip hop. "Those 6 months that i just stopped showed me alot, a lot about how hip hop was just all the same, and i wasn't..i guess when i heard Atmosphere i just saw that its cool to be different, it really just showed me how to give the middle finger to commercialism..then I got more involved with it and heard people like Dose One and Aes Rock..and it blew me away." he says about his intro. From there he started listening to all kinds of alternative hip hop, rock, jazz, blues. "Before i listened to Atmosphere, my mind was set on rap, but after that it opened my ears to a whole new world." he says about his musical hero's. In the summer of 2002 he joined up with a fellow local emcee named Manhandle, they recorded 2 songs, and split. "I dunno, things just were never right between us. I mean at first we were cool, but then i just realized how different our theories were on music. He wanted to be big, i really didn't, I just wanted to make music." he says about former friend and partner Manhandle,"we were really just two totally different people that couldn't mesh together if our lives depended on it." Then in October 2002 he joined up with a local producer named Shaun and started Dionysus Oracles where they also brought in Averse as a DJ, "Dionysus Oracles would have been dope. If we could have gotten our shit together we would have been an unstoppable group, I mean our creativeness was amazing, and our theories on music was just so juxtapositioned i can't even explain how cool it was.." But not even one song recorded and they split. "Shaun just didn't want it, he just didn't. I understood, so me and Averse split.." he states about Shaun. Next was The Transporters in November of 2002, where Averse and Jordan met up with a local emcee and beatboxer RS-16, and Jordan brought former friend Deviant into the scene, "Transporters were cool, i mean the first 2 songs we did were real cool, but like with Eternal Theory with Manhandle, we just all didn't have the same theories. I mean with ET we wrote about the same stuff, but Deviant wasn't used to writing real unique or deep stuff, so it was hard. He also wanted his ugly mug on MTV, and me and Averse are like..fuck that, not to add RS never showed for sessions, and soon Deviant didn't so me and Averse split." Jordan explains the break up of The Transporters. So what's next? Jordan and Averse started Nemesis worked on tracks never really released an album, but they have songs featured on Octave Doctor's "Clear Cuts Vol. 1:Skilled Operations." Jordan is now hard at work with his band really getting the Octave Doctors name out along with his band's. "We're just having fun, if something happens..awesome. If it doesn't, oh well, we're doing something we love. Expect a full length oddysey studio recorded LP in Summer of 2004. Also check out Jordan Latz and John Newtron as The Freemasons coming soon! and as for his solo project. "Ummm don't expect that until 1 or 2 or 3 oddysey albums..then i'll release it..then make about 4 more oddysey albums then release another solo album.." he says. His solo project "Qwantum's Journey Exercise"..expect that around 2005 he said.
