B3

Hey this is Brandon Baines. I'm 19 and I'm a full-time yo-yoer, part time MC. I produce the vast majority of my beats, and of course, write all my own lyrics. Music isn't really the focus of my life anymore. This is all old stuff from 2004 and earlier.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I started rhyming in 2000. I started a group called Yashuu later that year. My lyrics sucked back then too, they really did. I tried to be black and not myself cuz those music videos had a big effect on me since I was a little man, and I wanted to be what those people were and have what they had. Then I got a little older, got a little wiser, and started tweaking my style, being the suburban white kid I am, and realizing that in true hip-hop, it doesn't matter what race, age, or gender you are. I released 4 Yashuu albums over the years, started up SCR Recordings, started to mess around producing, and now I have my solo album, Versatility.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I don't really play live shows. I have done a few open mics and whatnot, but I basically just keep to myself a lot of the time.
Your musical influences
I have a bunch of influences. My musical influences are people like Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Danja Mowf, OutKast, K-OS and Mission (a lotta underground, more positive MCs). Then there's some unsigned dudes I really like such as Dee-1R, Philosophi, 51 50, TrueSon, and so forth, all of which you can find on Soundclick.
What equipment do you use?
I use a Tapco 6306 mixer, an AKG C1000S condenser mic, a Yamaha PSR-320 keyboard, a computer, Cool Edit Pro, Acid 4.0, and I'm starting to learn how to use FL Studio as another production tool.
Anything else?
Nope.
