Avaron
Avaron reflects former smiling Politely drummer Andy & guitarist/vocalist Gareth's more experimental interests as such it started life as a side project. The side project then spawned an album.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Starting their life as a 3-piece Lo-Fi Rock band, Smiling Politely, after just 6 months of playing local venues, managed to land a support gig with ex-Babes in Toyland singer, Kat Bjelland's Katastrophy Wife.
Then drummer Andy & guitarist/vocalist Gareth, started work on a side-project named Avaron.
Shortly after bass player Steve left, the two, failing to secure a bassist who suited their needs, began work on a three track demo, remaining as a two-piece. This demo later became the basis for an album, which reflected more their experimental side-project Avaron than the heavier sound of Smiling Politely.
Rather than sticking to their traditional roles within Smiling Politely, Avaron called for a more flexible approach & although their roles in the band are not defined as such, Andy comprises the bulk of the rhythm section While Gareth takes main responsibility for the lead.
