From the deep melancholy of Counting Blue Cars, to the heights of No Apologies with the poetic tragedy of The Doors to the political likeness of The Wailers - collectively they play one cool tune, finding a middle ground from their different interests.
With musical influences like The Doors, Black Crowes, mad blues and jazz players, a lot of alternative and grunge bands, reggae, rock, well pretty much everything except pop! Mix-in these different fancies, “AtticSessions” tries to form a unique sound of their own.Band/artist history
“AtticSessions” was formed more than a year ago. It was then called “Sketch”, with Dek on vocals, James on guitars, Bert on bass and Mars on drums. Bert, James and Dek are graduates from UST, all in the same course of Architecture. While Mars studied his ass off in AdMU with Computer Science as a major. Yes, they are graduates (sarcastic undertone), but Mars is still in AdMU taking up masters and being part of the faculty while James is taking up new classes.
It started as just a “trip” when one boring school day, Dek, James and Bert, being block-mates that they were, decided to cut class with two of their classmates. One was Alex who plays a mean guitar, and the other was Miko, the bassist of Tin Tasa and Nityalila. In the beginning they called themselves, ‘Cholesterol Free T.V.’, then ‘Friction Burn’, then ‘Special Mongo Cake Festival’ and so on. They’ve thought of a different band name for every gig they’ve played. Months have passed, many ‘rackets’ played, and a lot of eardrums enraged, they’ve decided to call it quits. With the budding group graduated from college, and all of them pursuing their own careers, they sort of went their separate ways.
Dek, James and Bert kept on constant contact with each other, Alex migrated to the States and Miko went on playing with his other bands. But their love to their music could not be abated, and with a lot of time to be wasted, the remaining three went on playing from time to time. Consisting of Bert, Dek and James, they needed a drummer. Then Dek learned that Mars, a friend from high school, was trying to form a band of his own. Making the whole canola short, they went on forming “AtticSessions.”
Mars, listens to alternative bands like Dishwalla et al. with a nasty trip on Nirvana. James, knows his grunge but likes new metal, even though the rest of the band hates it. Bert and Dek dig jazz and blues. But Bert is more inclined on the ‘softer side’, should I say, compared to Dek’s underground roots like the Dead Ends, Descendents, G.I., Tame, topped with Jim Morrison’s hackle.
From acoustic sets to grunge, the band AtticSessions have made a unique sound that offers more than lively beats and catchy tunes. Although the band’s members are influenced by a diverse range of musical genres, the band’s own brand of music provides a simple, yet artistic, approach to alternative rock. Drawing inspirations from punk, grunge, jazz, and blues influences, Attic Sessions was still able to create a unique sound of their own.Your musical influences

Greetings from ORPLIDHi,
I am Nathaniel Savella Ramirez, a Filipino-American singer-songwriter. All my songs that I have recorded so far are in Pilipino. They came from still a deep love for the Philippines. Despite being away for more than 15 years now. Thank you and keep up the good work. All comments (3)
