Middletown, CT - Punk band looking for gigs and recognition!
AFG is currently a 4 piece band. It consists of Matt Dionne (Vocals, Guitar), Derek Linklater (Guitar), Joel Sheehan (Bass, Vocals), and Nick DeConti (Drums). Together those 4 people put together an energy filled rush while on stage, all for the crowds entertainment. We've been together for about a year now and havent been able to get many shows or recognition. We have recorded a couple of crappy demo songs, and we just want to get them out there to you guys! Name: Matt Dionne
Background: Lead vocalist and guitarist of this here band AfG...FUCK YEA...umm ive been switched around now to a couple different places...i started out on guitar and vocals, and then switched to primarily vocals when Steve Timbro joined us in December. But big Steve-o has decided to follow up on his baseball career (PUSSY SPORT *cough*) so hes resigned from the band. So im back on the guitar and rockin out better than ever.
Style: My style is more punk than anything else...POWER CHORDS BITCH...and im def. the LEAST technical one on stage...i just pound those strings like a wild man and the shit that comes out always sounds good...im a genius what can i say?
Influences: My influences...damn...first off Billy Joe and Tony Lovato are huge as far as my playing style and attitude..as for bands...Greenday, Allister, MXPX, Mest, Unsung Zeros, BRANDNEW, NFG, Homegrown, Weezer, Midtown, Coniption Fit...fuck theres plenty more...basically all the punk bands...hardcore to pop punk...anything punk baby...
Equipment: The Antares LP Style...A fkin 100W monster amp (Rogue)...Some kind of mics, a gay ass mic stand...other shit man wtf u want? *These are all subject to change...
Name: Derek Linklater (Dee)
Background: my backround is a total blurr...after the tornado and fire that drove my family away from me when i was 2, i walked 190 miles to connecticut to find an orphanage. one year after i lived there, the family i live with now took me in and were very sweet to me. we moved to the neighborhood which the band lives in today and about 10 years later i became a member of the band AfG. now here i am and rocking out with Matt, Joel, and Nick!
Style: my style is all around, i play punk when i want too or need too, but if u want i will play jazz,classical,and twinkle twinkle little star lol. the way i play on stage is hunched over and all tired...im the lazy one who has sudden outbursts of randomness.
Influences: my influences are grandpa smurf, the smurfette, beatles(the bug, not the band), the guy who made doritoes, the guy who paints all the little M's on the M+M's, and the polar bear who ate my reeses peanut butter cup at the zoo when i was 6 years old.
Equipment: i have the table(firebrand les paul), B.C. Rich Warlock, and a 50 watt Crate amp...
Name: Joel Sheehan
Background: Ahhhhhhhhhhh.I hate this band the only reason while im still in it is because im waitin on Creed to decide whether or not they want an official bassist??? Nah I love AfG (and I wish). Aight so I was born on Mars and when I was being deported to Earth I met some intresting characters like Superman, and Neil Armstrong. Yup good memories!!! Well they dropped me off in Middletown Ct and assigned me some Earth parents to torture for the rest of their lives. Then like 12 years later I hooked up wit Matt, Nick, and Derek to complete EnDeAvOr. No I wasn’t an original, I’m the “new guy” they don’t give me like any shit wit that though so its all good, and it’d be all good neways cuz they gimme shit about everything else. Well now I’m really good with my music and I love playin with the band and havin fun!!!!
Style: My style is all about the rock shit!! I play mostly punk/pop rock but I play some hardcore songs like 2 at the most. Getting up in front of people and just goin nuts that’s the best fun to have of all time. Just fricken hammer them notes when im up in front of people goin crazy cus that’s what people like to see a band jumpin aroud given the crowd sumtin to cheer about!!! DUH!!!
Influences: Hmmmmmy infleunces first Mark Hoppus dudes the man at what he does and always will be. Then New Found Glory cause they’re so good at what they doo, Blink-182 of course, Good Charlotte, Allister, Home Grown, Mest, Chevelle, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Linkin Park, Simple Plan, SR71, Sum 41, The All American Rejects, The Used, The Starting Line, Finch, and most of all my band members Matt, Nick, and Derek without them I don’t play bass.
Equipment: Yea equipment got my big ass amp fucken Ibanez blows eardrums away. Fucken Rock the Dungeon with that thing big time!! Got my Fender bass guitar.
Name: Nick DeConti
Background: Drummer for AfG!! Im one of the “original 3” (Me, Matt, Derek) Joel jumped in after our first show we did to play bass..and every one knows what the deal is with stevesorry ladies..haha..on stage I go pretty freakin crazy..when you guys come to see us playtalk to us..if you ask the other guys how much I flip out and go nuts..and just be an asshole..they’ll say about 95% of the time..My parents are my biggest fan for our band and in particular..me..so its good..that’s about it from this drumming fool!
Style: “Match grip” for you other drummers out there who know what im talking about..i use a lot of cymbals when I play..i like the sound..over the course of me drumming I’ve developed my own sense of style throughout the course of my drumming career. All you guys would probably laugh at me, but whatever, I play drums in this band and you don’t. That hurts doesn’t it? I know it..nah..but my style when I play1 word..”nuts”
Influences: Welllike Matt I have influences that are bandsI have 2 that are people. My influences are: Travis Barker, Phil Collins, Finch, The Starting Line, Allister, Blink-182, New Found Glory, Incubus, Justincase (you probably don’t know who they are), The Used, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, MxPx, Mest, Midtown, and the MHS band. They’ve all done a little bit to help me develop style of playing and the development of me drumming.
Equipment: I use: CB Drums (in the process of getting a new drumset though..) with the black Remo skins, Zildjian 20” Ride, 16” Crash, 12” Splash and 8” Splash cymbals, Favorite drumsticks I’ve ever used was a Pro-Mark 2B Nylon Tip. I don’t have any of those big powerhouse amps or nothin’..but im still bad ass..Have you performed in front of an audience?We have live shows usually at our drummer Nick DeConti's house in his huge field. We love playing there because its easy to setup and people know where it is.
