"With the song-writing artistry of Coldplay, but with a considerably more intense rock-edge they spark with energy and crescendo with influences from Russian Folk to 70's Funk, Ashborn's style never flatters to deceive - they are true to themselves."
Band/artist history
Life, the universe and everything.... Originally formed in Derby, 2001, but now based in the South East, Ashborn's mix of explosive rock and intelligent, progressive Indie is starting to gain widespread recognition. Following blistering live performances in the South and Midlands the band has received interest from several Independent Labels, including Douglas Mew of D-Records and Notting Hill Music. The most recent addition of lead guitarist Mark Williams in July 2003 saw the 4-piece re-define their sound. A busy six months followed, and now in 2004, after three years of constant development, the band are preparing to make inroads on the UK live scene. Armed with a barrage of intricately written songs together with some cracking harmonies, their style has been achieved without sacrificing an intense rock-edge. As a live act Ashborn have become a powerful, succinct unit, remaining brash, dynamic and full of soul. Lead singer and lyricist Alyosha Chityan (23) has his roots based in folk and alternative rock and it is his initial creativity that forms the bedrock of many of their songs. Lead guitarist Mark Williams (22), complements Alexei perfectly, bringing a wealth of experience from rock and guitar based music. Having recently joined the ranks, he has introduced a dirtier, raw take on their original sound. Joel Wynn (23), on bass, grew up listening to 70s Jazz funk and this is evident as he instigates a pulsing groove to several of the bands songs. Completing the four-piece is Joe Stocking (21), whose driving and unrelenting drums, together with Joel’s bass-lines, form the backbone to much of the band’s work. for more information, please visit the offical site
