Griffin-X was formed by Jim Griffin, guitarist of Texas based metal band Something Shiva. It highlights his interest in creating tight, groove orientated guitar music with lots of melodic solo work. The "band" originates from San Antonio, Texas and has just completed work on its fourth CD entitled "Mach 5". Jim has been playing guitar for over 18 years and has jammed with such band as Battery Park, Synjynce, Something Shiva, Face-First, Dorian Gray, Dakine and Anicrusix. All guitar, bass, synth and drum parts are written by Jim and later mixed and mastered at the Griffin-X studio.Have you performed in front of an audience?I play a few shows in and around the San Antonio, Dallas, Austin area. Primaraly, my music is cyber-based digital or MP3. I sell CDs online and make my music available to just about anybody anywhere and anytime.
Your musical influences
Most of my influences come from hard rock and heavy metal guitar of the 70's and 80's with some cool 90's grooves. I am into Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen and Tony McAlpine. All very smooth, excellent guitar players that do all guitar rock.What equipment do you use?
I use Epiphone, Dean, and Fender guitars, Line-6 Spider III amps, Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings, Behringer bass amps, and Yamaha recording gear.Anything else?
