Tonemonkey and The Fabulous Mojo Kings
Tonemonkey & the Fabulous Mojo Kings are mainly lil ol' me. I am the Tonemonkey. I am BluesBoyBuddy. I am Buddy Mack. I'll stop the pseudonyms before it gets too much like 'I am Spartacus'! Along with myself, I'll be going along getting help and tracks from buddies along with (hopefully) those fabulous chaps at the Fender and Les Paul Forums. The stuff I do is pretty much straight up blues, no ice, influenced by the greats of the genre, and taking in Texas, Chicago, West Coast, Brit and Delta to create my style.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
this is stuff I have been doing since I left Blim, at first just for fun. But now with purpose!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Used to, but at the moment I am between drummers, and bass players, and singers, and horn sections. In my last band Blim we held down a residency at the Crawdaddy club in Richmond London for 4 years, and gigged around the area.
Your musical influences
Clapton, Green, Buddy Guy, BB King, Freddie King, Albert King, SRV, Albert Collins..... The List goes on. An important new influence is Buddy Whittington, current guitarist with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, maybe less obvious than the others, but do go check him out..
What equipment do you use?
A Strat, a Les Paul and a Fender amp. For recording...Kristal
Anything else?
what do I put here? Anything. OK Anything (I'm Such a wag!)
