Nature plus progressive rock.
In the middle of the U.S., a most unusual thing happened. During the last half of the 20th century in the most unlikely of placesSheboygan, Wisconsin, music, however contemporary for its time, always found a welcome home and enthusiastic nursery with those passionate about it. Under the generous umbrella of “Rock ‘n’ Roll”, a “family” of musicians grew, learned, performed and played together. The boundary between music as business and music as recreation was lost, and many combinations of percussionists, guitarist, vocalists, keyboardists, and even wind instrumentalists came together in various combinations to produce original, and reproduce covers of popular music with proliferation. Many, if not most of those musicians at one time or another became associated with “The Buffalo Joe Band”. Begun in 1973 by Scott (“Joe”) Hildebrand and Jack (“Buffalo”) Jensen, the group has changed, evolved, waxed and waned, but like the Buffalo, always found a way to survive. And in this first part of the 21st century, with founding member Scott Hildebrand leading the herd, the tradition continues. The 2004 edition of The Buffalo Joe Band features Scott Hildebrand on acoustic guitar and vocals, Patrick Martin on drums, Jerry Messner on bass and vocals, Carl Weinberger on lead guitar and vocals, Steve Feudner on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Kevin Zimmermann on keyboards. Here you’ll find a sampling of some of the Buffalo Joe Band’s material from the 1998 album release “Patrick’s Place” produced by George Nestler at Big Fish studios(the aforementioned musicians, but without Steve Feudner and Carl Weinberger, and with Ken Bohannon on lead guitar and vocals and Mike Basch on vocals, acoustic guitar and flute) and the newly recorded 2004 single “Brand New”, part of our ongoing effort to get a collection of new material together for you. If ever you find yourself in the Sheboygan area, look us up and catch a live gig. Our loyal fans always make a Buffalo gig a good time. In the true Buffalo tradition please enjoy this music with your favorite malt beverage or (if needs be) non-alcoholic alternative.
