ESPI is a totally original DJ, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, primarily creating with various African, Latin, & Indian percussion, sampling & beat-making with his MPC2000XL, and turntablist scratching.
ESPI's material draws from a lifetime spent creating wild styles beneath the radar, from playing guitar in a hardcore band as a youth, to tweaking knobs in Baltimore warehouses, to DJing events for mixed martial artists.
I say James is a most-powerful eternal spirit in the form of an incredibly passionate and truly overwhelming man. A lot of people throw around terms like 'creative monster' but James [ESPI] really is. I hope he puts out the material I've heard, but he is doing 100 things all the time, so you never know. He's been progressing into a new stage now and even talking of love and such things, so I hope he frees some "hedonistic and nihilistic viking music" before he's too happy or something. -Nick Clarke, August 2009
ESPI really lives this. His forthcoming 2010 independent release has motive: A seranade to the souls with hot blood and clenched fists, crushing gates beneath trampling feet, filling the night with the body's worthy programming. Do What You Were Made For.
