Band/artist history
"Ok, the band's history? I was born in 1952, grew up, graduated from high school, went into the service, got out and got married, was a cop for 30 years, now play music".Have you performed in front of an audience?"I do a couple projects...I play from time to time with a very well respected band here in the Des Moines area SUMPIN DOO with it's leaders George and Gill Davis who are in the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame. Another band that I sit in with occasionally is Bella Soul featuring the very talented Tina Haas Findley. I have also spent time with The Janey Hooper Trio as well as a two year stint with Bob Pace and his band. Currently, my main focus is my solo performances where I get the chance to play not only my own tunes but music I have loved for years old standards and music from the 50's, 60's and 70's that I've put my own twist to. It's music everybody knows and just brings back memories. I should also mention a very talented harp player here in town ("Curry" Harter) that recently I've hooked up with for gigs that looks very promising. People have mentioned how much they like our sound.
Your musical influences
"Hey can we stop for awhile and take a break...There's this womens prison movie on ch.12 I've been dying to see....." ...................................................................."Ok, let's continue, man what great acting!"What equipment do you use?
I play my solo show's with an electric strat through a Roland synthesizer for a nice string sound on alot of my songs. I find it funny when someone comes up to me at a braek and asks if I know any Tower of Power or Earth Wind and Fire, when those type of bands have usually ten players or more with a full horn section. It's abit hard to recreate that incredible sound with only one of me. So, if by chance your visiting this site to audition my music for a possible playing date please keep in mind that when I recorded these tunes your listening to, they we're recorded as a full band. Even though I played all the instruments on the recordings to re-create that sound LIVE by myself is impossible. I mentioned earlier that click on the tunes above that are marked "Acoustic" and that will give you a better idea of what I do solo.Anything else?
One other gig I'd like to mention is that five nights a week I do a radio show here in Des Moines on 99.1 KFMG called "The Overnight". A bonus for venues I play is some free on-air publicity in that I always tell my listeners where I'm playing and a little about the joint.Contact
