Marcus Nelson - Vocals and Congas Greg Helin - Bass and Backup Vocals John Doebke - Drums John Matteson - Guitar and Vocals Ned Wilson - Guitar and Vocals Mark Lee -Guitar on "See The Child" and "The Three Piece Trio" Mark koch -Guitar (when we find the recording) Jim Hamilton - Guitar(when we find the recording) Rutherford & Egerts band - on "See The Child" and "The Three Piece Trio" Facebook John Doebke February 22 at 11:01am Reply I was wondering if everyone (anyone?) has an interface for recording their guitar/bass) on the computer. There are network services that allow musicians in different locations to record on the same multitrack (the files sit on a universal server). Don't know if anyone is into is but it's possible for all of us to make a recording(s) together over the net. I am set up to do it, anyone interested in giving it a try? John Matteson February 22 at 11:12am Ya, that sounds great! Wholdn't there be a delay in the playback, therefore making it imposible to play/ record live together? I I know we could send mp3 tracks back and forth to creat sound over sound recordings. I don't know if my N-TRACK STUDIO program can work with mp3 tracks. I'll have to check it out. John Doebke February 22 at 11:19am Reply I don't think you can play live together (that would be pretty wild though). Someone would have to lay basic tack (with drum machine), and then everyone else overdubs (including me on drums). It operates like a collective. I'll have to find the website, but it all saves on a common server so anyone of us can access at anytime to work on our parts. This type of set up saves us from sending mp3's around. But if you know a way N-Tracks would work lets check it out. i think this other set-up is supposed to be pretty slick though. I'll find the site and forward info. Ned Willson February 23 at 6:19pm Reply Help I don't understand. Are we going to set a time to do it or what. I sooooo confused. John Doebke February 23 at 11:36pm Reply Okay I will try to xplain, Lucy, and dun make fon uv my aczent... 1. You need multi-track software on your computer 2. You need to go to www.indabamusic.com and sign-up as a new user. 3. Once you are signed up let us know and we will all "add" you as a new "contact". 4. Once you are added I will "invite" you onto the recording Session. The Session is called "Test". 5. So you have to be logged in, then go to "My Studio", and you will see the "My Sessions" section on the right, with the Session "Test". Open it. 6. Click on "Launch Session Console". Open the "Initial Drum Tracks" file. 7. Now you are in the Mixer. You can hit the play button and hear the drum machine track I set up. (It's simply a 12 bar blues beat to get us started before we try regular songs). 8. Exit the mixer. There are two tabs on main screen that say "Tracks" & "Mixdowns". Click on "Tracks" and you will see all recorded tracks so far. Under "Manage" there is a "Download This File" tab. Click on it and download the file. 9. Open your multitrack software, start a new project, ready a track and import the Drum Track file the project. (will vary depending on which software toy are using). In any event you want to load the Drums into Track 1. 10. Ready your Guitar Track (track 2) and you can record your practice and record your guitar to the drum track I created. 11. Once you have recorded your guitar track to your liking, you want to export it BY ITSELF as an MP3 or WAV file. My software (Cubase) requires that I SOLO the desired export track. You don't want to export the drums back, only your guitar. So Mute the drums track or Solo the guitar track before you export. 12. Use the highest resolution for export to MP3 or WAV, and make sure it is MONO not stereo. Save the file as something like "Ned's Guitar" to a place in your computers file system where you can find. It should end up as "Ned's Guitar.MP3" or "Ned's Guitar.WAV". 13. Now go back to Inbaba website and go to "My Studio" then "Sessions" then open "Test" then under the "Launch Session Console' click "Upload File". Fill in the upload file form NOT as a reference track. Click Upload File, wait a few minuted and you're done! Exit page. 14. Now open "Launch Session Console", click on "Basic Drum Track" mix file and the Mixer will open. 15. You "Ned's Guitar" file will be on the left. Click and drag it top Track 2. Now your guitar recording is in the mixer. Awesome! 16. Now the shitty part. You have to manipulate your file stream back and forth in the gris to get it to line up/ sync with the drum track. This requires ever so slightly shifting it back or forth, listening to see if it is in line with drums yet, over and over ( it takes a few minutes) until the instruments are playing in unison. There is also a "Nudge" buttin above that help with this process. 17. Once you have that done, hit play button and you have COMPLETED THE ENTIRE PROCESS and CAN LISTEN TO THE COMBINED WORK. After listening to it a few times take a long nap. Actually, it is now ready for someone else to do the same thing and overdub their part. So let's say Ned lays down the basic guitar track, Greg can put on the bass, John can do a vocal and a lead and Mark can put on a another backing guitar, a lead and then Ned can come back and do some lead work. Finally I will record live drums and dump the drum machine track. Project Fini! Have fun on your end boys.. It only takes a day or two to get comfortable with it. JD Find People. Make Music. Greg Helin February 25 at 6:30pm Reply I talked to Mark Koch today, he wants to jam BTW...he said that Ted's mom passed and he sold the house and is living in Mexico. He has no idea where Marcus is. John Doebke February 25 at 7:45pm Reply Maybe Marcus went to Mexico with Ted, that would be his life long dream, Mexico if not Hawaii. Koch was a good Shreddin Edddie, he jumped right in and did his part and seemed to love the tunes and playing with with all of us. Those were pretty good Eddie days practicing upstairs at Anillo. We had the Johnny only phase, The +Ned phase, the +Big Jim phase, the +Mark Koch phase, alot of Shreddin' Eddies out there. Still need to know.. WHERES WALDO MC SPARTICUS????? John Matteson February 26 at 4:51am Good job Greg! What does BTW mean? We have to have some recordings out there with Big Jim (What was his last name?) and Mark Koch. Would love to add some more songs to the Shreddin Eddie site. Bummer about Ted's mom. She was such a nice lady. John Doebke February 26 at 2:48pm Reply I think BTW is "by the way". John, did Richard ever get back to you about and tape archives? There were a couple of gigs that I know there are tapes of: 1. Big Jims back yard gig (the one we have alot of pictures of) Big Jim may still have tapes, I don't know. 2/3. The Chinese restaurant over by OC Airport, I forget the name of it. Also at that time another restaurant in San Juan Capistrano (same promoter) There is also probably Suzies house (the very first one), I know I have heard that tape. A few of these had REALLY clean tapes, Ned is of course on the Big Jim's Jam and Mark Koch is on at least one of the chinese restaurants. So there are at least 3-4 that I know I HAD copies of. What the heck happened to 'em? Ugh. I don't know what to do about this Marcus dilemma, I'm getting pissed off about it. Where is that guy???? We have a Missing Eddie In Action. Probably being held captive by native island babes in the South Pacific. hard to think about escaping when they insist on waxing down your stick for you all day. "The surf will be overhead and no crowds to make me sick!" "I know a secret point where nobody ever goes, we can drink tequila and get lazy like know one's ever known".... John Matteson February 26 at 5:04pm LOL! Ya, the Marcus dilema continues. I haven't given up yet. I can't wait for Saturday to work on some recording. It's been so long. I think I'll buy one of those portable hard drives because my N-Track studio program is on my older computer. I bet my dad has some of our old recordings. He was always around recording. I'll have to call him. I think the recording we have is from the Manderin (chinese resturant). What was Big Jim's last name? Johnny, was it Mark Lee's band that sounded like the Greatful Dead? Remeber how thight that band was. Marcus and me sat in with them on See The Child and The Three Piece Trio songs. Greg Helin February 26 at 6:46pm Reply Jim's last name is Hamilton, last time I saw him he was living in an alley in Costa Mesa and riding a bike. That was about 10 or 12 years ago...The Grateful Dead band was Rutherford and Egerts band, we played with them in Dana Point, the night you were making puke pyramids on the beach!!LOL!!! Mark's band was ok but we were better. We used to practice in their studio, remember? Marks drummers (bass players?)name was Michael I think. Yes, BTW means By the way Once we get this re
