My name is cuttydre,and I am from the bay area, and now live in Portland Oregon.Ive been making beats for aout 7 years now and have done production for a number of hip hop artists of all different styles as well as female and male vocalists and bands.My sound could be described as west coast, but I have a wide variety of influences and I have a very original style.
I started making beats in high school. I'd always knew I had an ear for it, but I was suprised how naturally it came right off the bat. As I kept getting better,I got to a point where I knew I had to take the next step. I went to school for, and got a degree in recording engineering. I learned how to transform my ideas into a professional sounding song. My ear for music combined with my recording expertise allows me to make what I and many others think are some of the hottest beats out there.
I dont personally, but I always enjoy seeing artists perform over my beats.
My early influence came mostly from west coast hip hop, especially Dr. Dre and DJ Quik. As I evolved as a musician, so did my influences. My influnces change for every beat that I make nowadays. I love old soul and funk like Al Green and Stevie Wonder,as well as all kinds of hip-hop, 80's music, and ethnic and classical music. Even with all those influences, you can almost always hear my west coast roots.
Everything in my studio revolves around cubase. For my sounds I use alot os software synths, a sampler, and a proteus 2000. I'm always trying to expand my studio.
