I am a Rock songwriter and San Francisco native. I began playing in June 1972 in Falls Church, Virginia, and my first bands were there: Mobius (1978-1980), Gallows Pole (1980) & RPM (1981-1982). Presented on this page are some tracks from my CD releases. Phil Hurd: Lead Vocals, All Guitars, Bass, Drums, Percussion, Keyboards. Band/artist history
I have performed and recorded extensively, and have released my music on CD since 1996. Visit my SoundClick music store to download my albums or philhurd@aol.com for CD orders. Between 1988 and 2009, I released my music on cassette & CD: The California Cowboy (June 1988), Deadbeats From Hell (June 1989), Guitar Junkie (June 1990), Phases (May 1994), World Of Hurd (September 1994), VII (July 1995), Powerhouse (March 1996), Gimme Shoulder (December 1997), American Beauty (January 2007) and Punked (July 2009). I received local, national and international airplay, press and awards for my music. I performed frequently in Austin, Texas from 1982 to 2013, and was a member/founder of the following bands: Bad Connection (1983-1984), Tumbling Dice (1984-1988 & 2011-2013), The American Dogs (1985-1986), The Elmores (1986), The Deadbeats (1988-1994), The Brainbell Janglers (1991), Heather (1992-present), The Blood Of Keith (1996-1998), The Skinny Jims (1998-1999 & 2010) & Non-Essential Personnel (2002-2011). I performed and recorded internationally with Germany's Borrowed Tunes and Broken Radio. I toured in Europe in 2001 and 2005, and was featured on Borrowed Tunes' 1999 CD, Local Flavor, and on Broken Radio's 2010 High Fidelity CD. Two of my tunes, Lookin' For Answers & So Fed Up were featured in the soundtrack of the 2006 Texas film, El Segundo. I was featured in Sue Donahoe's book about Austin music, Never Heard Of 'Em.

What equipment do you use?
Guitars by Ampeg, Epiphone, Fender, Gibson, Squier, etc.. Amps by Ampeg, Fender, Marshall, Music Man. Effects by Digitech, Vox, etc.. Since January 1988, I have recorded exclusively using my digital and analog TASCAM Portastudios.
