First formed in the early 80's as a quartet, the pursuit of original composition was always at the forefront. Now reunited as a duo, Todd Stones and Dino X have forged ahead to assault the mainstream with their own brand of sonic adventure.
Transcending the boundaries of the imagination, frontman keyboardist Todd Stones churns out the hypnotic melody, while guitarist Dino X expands the envelope of the soundscape.
The original core, Todd and Dino, met in college in the early 80's. Quickly, we expanded to a quartet, adding a drummer (Vince) and a bassist. Bassist chores changed hands during the initial period, and we played in and around the Montreal area steadily until 1985 when Dino left to serve in the Armed Forces. The band performed one more show at the Spectrum, and then disbanded.
Fast forward a few (25!) years, Dino and Todd, by the grace of social media, reconnect. Todd, the mastermind of this whole adventure, is still as musically precocious as ever. Dino, always the gear junkie, is (and always has been) seeking new ways to make the electric guitar envelope the senses. Melody, rhythm, and soundscape. Nirvana.
Our band did perform live in and around the Montreal area during the 80's, and we hope to do so again in the near future. Our notable haunts were Ste. Anne's Day, Kirkland Day, Station 10, The SOS Club, and the Spectrum. Performing live is always a rush. A headlong plunge into the abyss. Best moment? SOS Club, 1984. Our bassist, Keith, did the show in a kilt sans shit-knicks. Apparently he's well endowed and scared off 2 girl sitting up front when he leaped onto their table. We received a great reviews for that show, and the Underground finally understood that we meant business.
Life.
Todd is old-school. Sequential Circuits synth, Yamaha analog symphonic, and a bag of peanuts. Dino will run digital, analog, hammer and pick. Whatever it takes to get the right feel. Computers, drum machines, and any other inorganic entities round out the rest.
