Hi from Coffs Harbour, Northern New South Wales Australia. I've been playing music for a few years and really love playing guitar based rock music. I am a bass player / singer for a three piece band playing originals and covers. I have a bunch of original songs that I've been writing over the last few years, and now the technology to record and produce these songs. Most of my stuff is rock based, although my musical influences are pretty out there and some of my songs are an attempt to introduce these different styles and genres. Since finding an interest in computer based music technology, I have gained a real appreciation for electronic music, and although my heart and soul lies with rock music, I am experimenting more and more with electronic music. I am actually currently working on some stuff that combines the two .......... (!) The music I have put on this site has been wholly and solely written and produced by me (with a guest appearance by .......... Daniel Cox playing the solo in the song called ..Mistakes..). I have also played all instruments, sung all vocals and programmed sounds. I have a band, but due to time management deficiencies, conflicting schedules, laziness ........... I thought that I would just go ahead and put all the s*** I could down on my computer and produce it myself. My life is, as is yours; a work in progress. Thanks for taking the time !!Band/artist history
Well, it all started for me when I was about 16, when my mate Tim Lang, and his brothers Dave and Tony turned me on to the guitar ... thank you Tim, Tony and Dave. Then once we learned a few tricks, we were at it nonstop. I formed a band in high school with my mate Nick Ashby called The Aristocats. We played mostly covers, but played an original that I had written earlier. It was fukn fantastic fun !!! Jason Castle (myspace.com/thejaywah), Damian Lang and I formed a band called Blackwater. Playing originals during the late 80s and early 90s was tough but we had a lot of fun along the way. Hangin out non stop at Soupee's place (thanks for your fine hospitality Soupee!!), road trippin, etc etc, we met some crazy cats and partied lots and lots and lots ......... We still play the odd gig now and then, but basically life got in the way, as it so often does. Also, during the early nineties, Marko Stender, Damian Lang and I formed a band called Wizard. We just played originals (fucking awesome originals) that we worked for so fucking long on. We sure put some hours in, in a 4m x 4m sweatbox during the heat of a long Brisvegas summers day. But once again, I wouldnt have it any other way. Also once again life got in the way and the band sort of came to an abrupt end when some shit hit the fan about something or other (I cant remember exactly .............. honestly). Wizard also still play the occasional gig every now and then. It was in the early 90s that I met a very special lady called Nerida. After a rough beginning we eventually got married, and I can honestly say that had it not been for Nelly giving me a serious boot up the arse (or two or three .....) I would not have had the focus, or belief to do half the things that I have done over the last 15 years or so.... thank you my darling Nelly. A few musical stops and starts as well as heaps of jamming was scattered along the way of my journey so far. After all of that, I got 2 University degrees and got a job as a Town Planner (which I still have to this day, although in a different State). I dont think I picked up a guitar for about four years (sad, so very sad), until in 2002 I heard that a Beatles Tribute Show called The Beakles were looking for a Paul McCartney. I answered the call (I dont know why because up until that point, I only sang in two octave ranges - low and mid ish ranges). Then one day I fell over and I hit my head on the concrete, then whadda ya know - I found that I could actually sing higher pitches than I'd ever been able to before. So I sang and I sang and I screamed (Paul McCartney - Im Down played over and over) and I think I did some permanent damage, cause its never been the same since about mid 2003. The challenge of playing the part of Paul McCartney in a working Beatles Tribute Show was too delicious to pass up. I really loved doing it and wearing all the costumes, moustaches, wigs and stuff made it more of a theatrical (sometimes surreal) experience than just a gig with a covers band. We were playing a lot of gigs until my beautiful wife Nerida and I decided to move to Coffs Harbour for a change. The suddeness of the move was somewhat prophetic as Nerida contracted Multiple Sclerosis two months after we moved to Coffs. It was tragic news, and it meant some serious life changes for both of us. As fate would have it, Coffs was where Nerida grew up and her family still lived in the area. They help out heaps with the many changes that have befallen us and we are eternally grateful. Since being in Coffs Harbour, I have played in a few bands - The Big Kahunas, a surfing themed band (complete with dancing bikini girls). Thats where I met Rob Patrick who plays drums and we formed PRIZM -(myspace.com/prizmrocks), an originals / covers band who play kick ass rock music and always get a crowd on their feet. Daniel Cox was the original guitarist (and damn fine too - myspace.com/virtuosodan). Louis Egan, who has great feel and plays some real cool stuff too, played guitar for a year or so, until Dan came back for another stint in early 2007. Micky Bollen joined PRIZM in mid 2007 and now we play louder than ever. Come and see us sometime, we're kickin some serious ass more than ever now! Since 2004, I have acquired a computer as well as some software to record my musical thoughts, which you can hear the results of on this website. Also, recently I have travelled to the US & Canada where in May 2006 my best buddy Jeff Barr and I went on a 6500km road trip across the mid west USA - that was fucking awesome. We did it again in May 2007 where we travelled 8000km through the Mid North West, Canada and down the West coast of the US. Again ......... fucking awesome !!!! That brings me to more or less to where I am today. If your still reading this then thanks a lot for taking the time. My life, as is yours, a magical, mystical, strange, cruel, beautiful, magnificent work in progress. Cheers to you ....................Have you performed in front of an audience?I play bass and sing in a three piece originals / covers band in Coffs Harbour. We play at the local pubs, clubs and weddings, parties ...... anything.
