RADIO is an Indian Rock Band that was formed in the year 2007. The four of us came together with an idea of playing songs that were built purely on rock and simplistic guitars, bass & drums and backing our music with lyrics in Hindi. We write about life and its different colors. We know the true meaning of love and pain and how things get better after theyve gotten worse. So far RADIO has played a list of shows around the city of Bombay and is working on a full length album. For those who havent heard our music as of yet, we are dreamers and hence we write about aspirations and love. We believe that music can bring about a change in things and in people and that songs may fade away but an idea never does. We are four guys who seek an audience. We arent rock starsneither are we poets or gimmicks. We love playing and wouldnt mind dying with music as our poison. RADIO comprises of Sharad, Terry, Aditya & Alok who play guitars and drums and bass. Weve been playing for years now and writing ever since we remember. Luckily, we all think alike and our songs are about love, hope, freedom and revolution. Times are changingwe live in an age where life has much more to it than mere survival. Memories are worth more than gold and dreams are hard to hold on to. It is in these times that an Indian Rock Band asks you to dream on. RADIO is your bandlive it!
Sharad came up with the idea and Aditya and Alok were my friends who were experienced musicians. Myself, Terry brought them together and we started jamming - realised we were great at Hindi and not luckily were fresh and colorful unlike many a foreign artists who'd play in our markets.
We started off with unconventional self organized show and then a Radio Mirchi interview and then big college fests till we were approached by Rock On team to star in the movie.
Well as of now we're working on a big album, with lots more RADIO type songs.
We didn't intend to so early as we wanted an album out first. See RADIO isn't one of the dark cornered music making bands. This is the real thing...India deserves a better class rock band and RADIO is gonna' give it just that. We played at many places from clubs to college fests and eventually in Rock On - (you can catch us as the first band at the concert towards the end singing our song Musafir)
People call us mainly activist 'koz of our opinions and stands on many issues. But none the less we believe in an idea more than the music. So everyone from Che Guevera to Jim Morrison makes up our ideology.
Sharad uses a Fender six string with a DS2 dist/ pedal, Terry uses a Givson Bluebird and a Digitech processor, Aditya owns a Mapex kit and prefers just one Tom and Alok uses a Kramer Bass Guitar.
