BR is an artist from Brooklyn with a versatile and innovative style of hip-hop music. He has performed and recorded with his band Timebomb in and out of New York City for the last five years. BR and Timebomb combine prolific lyricism with dynamic arrangements to make original live hip-hop that works. Timebomb features Jibrail Nor on drums, Shanelle Jenkins on trumpet, Stacy Beatty Jr. on bass, Olivia Martinez on violin, Erika Brito vocals and Karnage on guitar.
Band/artist history
After working both with other groups and on his own since high school, BR put together TIMEBOMB, a seven piece band, in 2002. n 2007, BR & TIMEBOMB participated in the Emergenza International Band Competition and won the first four rounds coming in first place for all rounds, which were held at THE HOOK in Brooklyn and at Crash Mansion in Manhattan. They won the Finals as New York Citys best band and won for New Yorks Best Bass Player. TIMEBOMB features Olivia Martinez (violin/viola), Erika Brito (vocals), Jibrail Nor (drums), Shanelle D. Jenkins (trumpet), Kyle Eaddy (lead Guitar) and Stacy Beatty Jr. (bass). These talented musicians are in their mid-twenties to lower 30s, and have experience with a wide range of musical styles. Timebomb combines R&B, rock, reggae, funk, soul, jazz, classical and pop influences to create music that is strictly hip-hop. They are on a mission to put a new sound in Hip-Hop and to give people more variety.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes! All over. Venues in and around New York City, including Studio 54, The Village Underground, The Remote Lounge, Union Square Park, NAMA (New Amsterdam Musical Association) in Harlem and The Apollo Theater; in Brooklyn places such as The Five Spot, The Hook and the Cornerstone Bar; and have ventured out of NYC to Hofstra University in L.I., Oberlin College in Ohio and The Grog and Tankard in Washington D.C.
