Haven Yates

Haven Yates
Haven Yates' music combines deep storytelling lyrics, a folksy singer songwriter play style, and the upbeat fun of contemporary pop arena rock. Haven has been playing music for over twenty years. He began in coffee shops, backed by whatever fellow musicians he could round up on a gig by gig basis. Haven joined his first band that officially stuck when approached by Luz Elena Mendoza (of Y La Bamba) to start a band called June, where he played acoustic rhythm guitar, backup vocals, wrote, co-wrote, arranged, and co-arranged their ever-growing collection of band songs. Mendoza moved on to pursue other things, and Haven continued as the new front man with June members Matthew Lee Nickel, and Jonathan Hendrix Vreeland, playing for a few years under the name "Pneuma." In 2014 Haven backed Michael Robert on a two-week tour in England packed with sixteen shows. The experience fulfilled a lifelong dream of travelling abroad. Since then he has also traveled to Taiwan and was able to share his music there as well. In 2015 Haven joined hardcore band Proclaimer, where he played bass and sang clean vocals. In 2016, Haven recorded, mixed, mastered and co-produced Proclaimer's first EP - Legacy. In 2017, the band began work on a second EP - False Prophet, also recorded, mixed, and co-produced by Yates. In April 2017, Yates jumped on an opportunity to audition for The Voice, leaving Proclaimer to go on their first tour without him. Seeing this as a sign of potential future schedule conflicts, Yates announced to the band he would be stepping down to pursue his solo career. He aided the band with finding a replacement, and finished producing a final recording project with Proclaimer before going all in with his own music. Since then, Haven has played many shows along the west coast, USA with different acts including Nordic Daughter, Westward, Silver & Gold, and Ana Lete, to name a few.
