Bricks. Don't know the name, well soon you'll be real familiar with it. This hip hop artist has been rhyming since the age of 8. Raised in Louisville's Southwick projects, Bricks(nee Han Glenn) had the upbringing of the average young black male in the hood. Non existent father, disconcerned mother dealing with her own demons, gangs, and drugs. He learned early on he was talented with words and after joining a few teenage rap groups, which eventually folded, he became a solo act. Through local demos and mixtapes made with his brother, he caught the attention of his cousin and local entrepanuer Terron Toney. Toney used his connections in music and business and created the group Brick Gang. Members consist of Bricks, 22 year olds Casino and Kid White, and 21 year old Shot. A subsequent mixtape followed which sold 3500 copies in Louisville and Southern Indiana. Capitalizing on a growing buzz released his solo mixtape, Draft Day. With radio ready songs like "Line em' up" and street cuts like "Get it Poppin", Draft Day surpassed expectations and sold nearly 5000 copies. A steady stream of new songs followed and he finally garnered nationwide radio airplay with his single "Heel Toe". Catching wind of this new young artist from the south labels began calling and Bricks began taking meetings with everyone from Sony, J Records, Universal, all the way to Jive. All the while maintaining his focus in the studio and recording for his first full length solo album. Believing in his talent and understanding his worth, Bricks declined many deals and released another mixtape to increase his market value. Along with DJ Whitey he released 65 south. Twenty six songs of original and mixtape music, along with his new single "Rubberband" from his upcoming album Get At Me. The aforementioned "Rubberband" receiving 25,000 plays on myspace in 2 months with no radio airplay. With the unique voice of Chingy, lyrical wordplay and street talk of Lil Wayne, and marketability of Nelly, the stage is set for the south's next superstar. Young, handsome, and talented. Females love him, and fellas respect him. Drawing from influences like Soldier Slim, Eminem, Jay-Z, and 2pac, Bricks solo album Get At Me is shaping up to be his best material yet.
