interview with Andrei Zaicev
Whats the name of your band? Andrei Zaicev
How was the band formed? Andrei Zaicev- is my solo project that I started in 2007. Before that I had a lot of bands, from children to adult pop and rock . But once I wanted to try myself in the instrumental electronic music and the result shows that I'm on the right track. So I started working solo.
Where are all band members from?/Who does what in the band? All my music I write myself. There are no musicians- I do everything myself . Im in permanent searching of new styles and ways of sound. One day I want to try myself at psy chill, next day I can write something light , I never know what I want to do next time. First of all I compose melody and then I think how to produce it.
What was the ambitions of the band when you started? When in 2007 I started doing instrumental music, I had a strong desire to be heard not only in Russia but also abroad, and decided to release my works at MySpace and a few months later received offers to release of these tracks.
Why did you pick that particular style?/What are your songs about? I am not a supporter of any particular style -so I write music as light such heavy enough. As a child I was a big fan of the "ABBA" band. But also I was listening to a symphony by Georgy Sviridov, and in when I was teenager, I really liked "Pink Floyd". But I see great field for realizing my creative ambitions in Chillout, Ambient. Im the author of the Russian verses songs . I havent English songs yet but, I think that music can say more than the words of the song. I think that music is a kind of language that is understood by people all over the world.
Have you made any albums?/If yes what are they?
Since 2008 I had released two albums:
Andrei Zaicev - Spaceship/2008?/.

?????? Andrei Zaicev-Dancing Dolphins/2014?/. CD
«Dancing Dolphins" was released only offline, the internet version is not ready, the album may be interesting in fact that throughout the sounding music present voice of dolphins, which I recorded myself.
Do you have any clips on YouTube? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cR5fEryE0qc&list=PLveLpF_6PM1Vsord19dkisOn3iIn7Zkp1&index=1
At what age did you start playing? I started playing at 12 years of age. The first instrument that I learned was the guitar. Later I started playing piano.
How old were you guys when you first stood on stage? First time I tried myself as a part of school band in 1979.
Have you had any bigger tours from start to now? From 1999 to 2005 there were lots of performances, but I never had tours as celebrities, but I think situation will change soon.
What are the plans for the rest of the year? First of all I want to finish new composition, and then comes new year so I m going to celebrate.
What are your goals with your music? I'm going to create a new musical project, which will be played the English-language songs. No matter how it sounds, but I know that the musical material will have good quality, and at least I will strive towards this.
Is it easier to get your inspiration from older bands or from bands more modern? I like older bands more than new ones.
What are your sources of inspiration? Films and books are my sources of inspiration.
How do you feel about the downloading of music instead of buying albums? With great respect I treat physical media / CD / musical material. Its like the book -one single event, a separate subject, has a soul. I believe that music album should be the same event and have a separate shelf in the house.
Besides your own music, what genres and bands do you listen to? Mostly I prefer symphonic music.
What do you hold most dear? The most dear for me is my youngest daughter, she is 9 years old and already singing.
What would be your greatest fears for the future? All my fears are associated only with the current unstable situation in Russia.
Have you been part of any other projects? Yes, there were many other projects. Probably the most successful of these is the pop group "Babylon", formed in 1999 and released the album "Dance in the style of Russian" and several clips in Russia. http://youtu.be/wWEY2dhAzfQ

What drives a band that isn't all that famous and renowned to try to make a living on their music and to keep playing? Anyone who dreams of music, never ask such a question. Personally, I always move the process of creation of the work, I do not think that this can happen and how much I still earn money, but I'm in that particular state, when you forget about everything that surrounds you and time ceases to be value. It is worth to be creative, I guess. I think that a lot of good music is unheard, but that it does not become worse, and the status of its creators is poor.
Any pearls of wisdom for all other bands out there? Do not betray the music - she will not forgive you!
Do you have anything to add? I wish all readers and listeners love and patience in a new 2015.
