There's a big difference between talent and skill. Skill is obtained, while talent you are born with, and talent is something that rap artist Fenni Casino definitely has. Born Jonathan C. Walters, this 21-year old creative Atlanta native was sent to the slow-paced Northwest Hip-Hop scene in early 1997, to live with his father and to finish his schooling. At the time he then had a run-in with the law that would send him back to his roots at East Point, a small town near Atlanta, Georgia. It was here that Fenni began to realize his dream when given a karaoke machine for his fifteenth birthday. Inspired by such artists as hometown heroes Outkast and JD, along with New York rappers Big L, Nas, and Biggie Smalls; Fenni spent many hours making tape after tape. While living with his mother in East Point, Georgia; Fenni attended Tri Cities High, the same school where Outkast, r&b group Escape, and actors Keenan and Kell once attended. At the age of sixteen, Fenni was already expecting his first child. The drive for success became inevitable during his tenth grade year, when Fenni only focused on music despite other things going on around him. Accused of picking music over his child, this lead to confrontations between him and his baby's mother. After causing drama and shaking things up, Fenni laid low in Boston for a while where he battled with the Boston rappers and continued to write songs. Fenni was sent back to Seattle in late 2000 to live with his father and finish school at James A. Garfield High, the halls where music mogul Quincy Jones and martial arts trainer Bruce Lee once roamed. The rapper found himself in every battle cipher and Hip-Hop shows in Seattle shocking the competition with his witty swagger, and clever punch lines. Still focused and determined, he found himself not only writing hot lyrics but also studying about the music business. Upon graduating high school, Fenni returned to Atlanta where he then started his own record label entitled All-Star Entertainment. But still things didn't look up for him as he soon realized he was making bad decisions with his life considering his run-ins on more than one occasion with the law. In less than a year, Fenni was back in Seattle living with his father while on probation trying to regain focus on his life. Although rejected by the Seattle scene once before, Fenni refused to be denied again. Rockin' the Mic with his brothers one night at a show, Fenni became aware of his potential after the positive results sent his way from the crowd. In 2002, and traveling to Las Vegas, the young MC battled many rappers in Vegas. After finishing a local rapper outside a Vegas casino, he used the line "Don't get it twisted I'm in Vegas but I preach the South. Call Fenni Casino, cuz you know you can't beat the house." It was then that he picked up the nickname Casino. With a second baby on the way, he had to make some major business moves to provide for his family. After finding a Seattle base crew, All-Star Entertainment fiercely broke through and quickly gained respect in the streets and on the stage. Wanting more in life for his kids and himself, he has since vowed to stay away from the things that would hold him back. Compared to some of the top emcees in the game, Fenni has the total package and capability to be number one on the charts. Look for Fenni Casino to blow the roof off many more shows to come.
