Love of music brings John Daughtry to share his songs with new friends online in 2008. Raised in the southeast United States, John has worked in many bands as guitarist/ vocalist since 1983. His CD is called "Serendipity"and is the effect by which one accidentally discovers something fortunate, especially while looking for something else entirely. John says" I wanted to record my own songs and work on my personal growth through the artistic process". We hope you too enjoy John's heartfelt songs that speak of love, relationships, heartbreak and just having a damn good time.
Band/artist history
Since high school John Daughtry has played guitar and sang the music that was stiring his soul. From rock, nawlins funk, country and his love for blues music in all it's forms, John's songwriting takes the ingredients that make up his own gumbo and lays it own the table for everyone to taste in his CD "Serendipity". John say" I've had the pleasure of working with many great musicians over the years and I've felt that to play my own music offers me an outlet like no other".We hope you enjoy John's freshman effort " Serendipity "
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I work in the Jackson, MS area with "Rude Gecko" a hot rocking blues band as guitarist/ vocalist.
Your musical influences
I think the great Texas musician Bugs Henderson put things into perspective by saying he plays American Music. So if I had to put a name on my songs they might fit into the "Americana " catagory. Americana is a loose subset of American roots music, that is perhaps best defined as "classic American music" ranging in style from folk, country blues, bluegrass, alternative country, rockabilly, neotraditional and roots rock.
What equipment do you use?
Fender, PRS, Gibson and Taylor guitars, Marshall, Mesa, Ampeg, Vox and fender amps.
Anything else?
I'd like to thank Richard Young who recorded and produced this CD. Randy Read, Bill Love, Brian Hinton, Dan Cunningham, Tom Sellars and again Richard Young as supporting musicians on the recordings. Inspiration and songwriting/lyrics consultation by Rebecca Pevey. Also special thanks to Captain John Bull and his lovely wife Jennifer owners of the Riverboat Betsy Ann who I wrote " Riverboat Tonight" about. Thanks to all my friends and Family who supported my music all the years, John Daughtry
