Politicians arent the People I meet exhibits yet another slight change in Devine Lies ever emerging style and is probably their most accessible and lyrical to date. A mixture of songs about diverse topics ranging from scathing Political Comment to plaintive love (or perhaps lust!), Politicians arent the People I meet really is an album to listen and enjoy.
Who could not agree with the words and sentiment of the title track, Politicians arent the People I meet. Sharp comment indeed, as indeed is Save it for Yourself. These gems rub shoulders with tracks such as I Want You, a song about lust, pure and simple.
Devine Lie were formed in 2004 and split their time mainly between Barbados and Cape Town. The main writer and guitarist is Nigel Nicholls.
Melding a fusion of styles to create some interesting Alternative Rock, their music has matured during the course of their three CD Releases.
Their first CD was Devine Lies in 2006, with stand out tracks Stay and Dromoland featuring heavily.
Their second CD, Skin is all Sin, released in 2007, hinted at a slight change of direction, with the powerful tracks Hope in Suicide and Shadow Aspect dominating.
Their latest CD released in 2009, is Politicians arent the People I meet. This new CD shows yet another slight change in their ever emerging style and is probably their most accessible and lyrical to date.
