Model A was assembled on the third floor of an antiquated office building, located inside the business district of Downtown Sacramento. In the year 2000 the band began manufacturing a complex mix of sonic progressions, altered rhythms, heavily effected guitars, sinister Fender Rhodes, potent bass lines, modular synthesizer, and haunting melodic vocals. The sound alludes to the cerebral tint of 60's psych in partnership with a modernized indie rock sound. The band also utilizes technology to add an element of neo electronica to their battery.
In 2001 the band released The Stir EP, which was played on college radio stations across California. The CD was reviewed as "taking large cues from the glitchy paranoia of Radiohead, the menacing dub of Massive Attack, and the sweeping space rock of Spaceman 3. Their music is all about soaring vocal lines, propulsive beats, depth charge bass lines, and intricate guitar and keyboard interplay" -Section M Magazine.
The band has played numerous gigs in the Sacramento area, Bay area, and Southern California. Model A has been featured in various regional papers, such as the Sacramento Bee, Rant Magazine, Sac City Express, and The News and Review. A new CD is in the works for a summer release and will be promoted on a Western US Tour.
Model A uses the combination of stunning visual effects and a well calibrated electro acoustical explosion to capture its audiences into a swaying trance.
