"Masterpiece is a beautifully written album that combines different sounds of soul, R&B with touches of jazz and a hint of classical? Thats right! Each track, he is able to deliver to us heartfelt yet truthful lyrics that one can only feel connected to. This debut album will clearly have people buzzing and raving about J. Phoenix and the musical talent this man possesses. Every track delivers a message of hope, love, and empowerment, while listening to beautiful vocals that we can only attempt to mimic. With non-stop play, there will be no need for the forward/ skip button. The title of the album, clearly speaks for its self."

"Masterpiece." It is a blend of ballads and musical styles from neo-soul to R&B to jazz to soul. Phoenix has a smooth, sexy Eric Benet vibrato and a Jill Scott vibe, and writes lyrics of life, love, and social consciousness. Beautiful ballads on this CD are "Maybe One Day," "Just Another Memory," and "Reflections Of You." All are solid and bring together Phoenix's appreciation for the
past with a strong sense of the present. J. Phoenixs CD is a Masterpiece.

"Masterpiece contains many possible hits and great songs, but four in particular stand out for me. First, the song Sweet Freedom flows amazingly well and shows off the artists writing prowess. As a matter of fact, the entire album is one of the most well-written Ive heard in a long time. Three other musical gems on the record are Hate To Love You, For the People, and Heart of a Soldier, all of which I could imagine hearing time after time on some of the more prominent R&B radio stations throughout the country. Count on 2008 to be the year of the breakout of future megastar J. Phoenix."

I'm still hyped about the release of my debut CD, MASTERPIECE, as things continue heatin' up!!!
Sales are coming from as far away as Asia and Europe. In support of the album's first two weeks I had two outstanding shows in New York, and the response was exceptional.
The talent on this album is awesome and I'm fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with producers and musicians who have worked with some of the top Hip Hop, Pop, R&B and Jazz talent in the business. I'm talking Diplomats, Celine Dion, Chaka Khan, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys, Neo, Michael Bolton, Randy Brecker and Marcus Miller level talent.
My believers say I can make gold with MASTERPIECE, and I'm sticking with them.
Now that I've calmed down, here's a little background: Im an ASCAP/Sammy Cahn Award-wining songwriter (for excellence in lyrics). I've written for legends--Tupac, Earth, Wind & Fire, Nancy Wilson and George Benson-- platinum-selling contemporary artists--Joe, Anointed, and renowned artists in other countriesMichelle Wright in Canada and Gary Barlow in England.
I worked with the legendary Luther Vandross; and Ive performed with the exceptionally talented band, The Family Stand, and Broadway star Lillias White. My songs have been heard in motion pictures, and on television shows. Ive performed at the Sundance Film Festival and in an advertising campaign with American idol Bo Bice. Recently I got some nice cuts in Korea.
What I like to remember is getting a phone call from Nancy Wilson saying she wanted to record one of my songs, and writing and singing on Tupac Shakurs Thugz Mansion (Nas version) which is on his Better Dayz album and Nas Gods Son.
What I'd like to forget is all the times an A&R said they didn't know how to market me.
Suffice it to say the entertainment business has been my life and I have no plans to change.
Sure do. Love it. It's special when the crowd let's me know it's feeling me.
