The Sly Dels
The Sly Dels
Spanning everything from Motown to Classic Rock, blues to jazz, & funk to fusion, both the bands original & cover material have elements of nearly all genres & styles of music! Their songwriting ranges from grooves that are soulful & straightforward to pieces that are a virtual exhibition in musicianship, thus creating a diverse, yet truly distinctive sound for the quintet. Combining the old with the new, complexity with simplicity, traditional with cutting-edge, the Dels can captivate just about any listener! The Sly Dels are an experienced group of players & writers who, in terms of music, have dedicated themselves to three basic principles: 1) Bringing creativity, craftsmanship, & blue-collar soul back to todays music, 2) Having a good time, & 3) Giving a good time! See ya at the show!!!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
In mid-2004, Cincinnati bassist & vocalist Chad Buzz Busemeyer set out to find like-minded musicians that shared his dedication to playing & writing music. He soon picked up with saxophonist & West Virginia transplant, Greg Hurd, & the two went on to jam with a number of musicians in the weeks proceeding. During that time, Greg & Buzz were introduced to Dayton-born drummer, Cory Hammy Hamilton, & they all soon realized that they had a solid foundation on which to build. From there, it didnt take long to find another piece to the puzzle when Hammy called in Matt Moon from Central Ohio to provide guitars & a second vocal. With four members in place, the band was essentially born, however, it wasnt until another Cincinnati native, Jason Hippy Combs, brought keyboards, auxiliary, & offsetting vocals into the fold that The Sly Dels were primed to hit the stage & stake their claim in the music scene!
