GALLEON is an Atlanta-based musical group which steadfastly believes life is too short to settle for ordinary music. Comprised of Elliott & June Michaels, William Easterling, Mike Shea, Martin Alvarez, and John Patka, this electric outfit plays a variety of rock, folk-rock, and modern country music; mixing tasteful, well-crafted original songs with selected deep-cut cover tunes; and performing it all with a very high level of professionalism and our own unique and special style. Thus, the band makes music that sails above and beyond all the rest! Galleon's music is a fusion of the best elements of jazz, country, blues, gospel, folk, and African and Latin musical stylings - the very same elements which were fused together to forge rock music in the first place. So it's still rock & roll to Galleon! The chemistry and camaraderie among musical partners Patka, Alvarez, Shea, Easterling, and Mr. & Mrs. Michaels is most evident in Galleon's cohesive and assertive sound, imposing stage presence, and commanding performance. The group appears often at Atlanta-area clubs and concert events, and they now look forward to playing their special brand of music throughout the Southeastern United States. Booking, auditions, and additional information regarding Galleon are handled as follows: GALLEON! 803 Cimarron Parkway, Sandy Springs, GA 30350 Telephone: (404) 552-2763 or (404) 374-0100 Official GALLEON EMail Correspondence: galleonmaster@yahoo.com GALLEON ReverbNation Web Page: http://www.reverbnation.com/galleonrocks GALLEON SoundClick Web Page: http://www.soundclick.com/galleon GALLEON BandCamp Web Page: https://galleonrocks.bandcamp.com Don't you miss the boat ... welcome aboard GALLEON! Band/artist history
GALLEON has been together in one form or another since winter 1994, when transplanted New York/Los Angeles musician Elliott Michaels decided to buckle down and form a band he could truly call his own. Michaels has had many talented musicians working in Galleon over its 24-year existence, but now the band has its strongest lineup yet in synthesist William Easterling, drummer Mike Shea, co-lead/bass guitarists Martin Alvarez and John Patka, percussionist June Elise Michaels (Elliott's lovely wife), and of course Elliott himself as lead singer.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We have appeared at Atlanta-area nightclubs and concerts, mostly for benefit events, which is all very fun and fine; but now we are working to "make like a tree and branch out," seeking to play throughout the Southeastern United States in the coming months and earn respectable money playing our music. We are Atlanta's unknown supergroup, the best-kept secret in Georgia music today, and now is the time for us to take our brand public in a big way!
Your musical influences
Anything and everything from Sinatra, Martin and Davis to Emerson, Lake and Palmer to Tony Orlando and Dawn; from the Allman Brothers to the Osmond Brothers; from Black Sabbath to Blake Shelton; from the Beatles to the Lennon Sisters; from Cream to the Supremes; from Robin Trower to Barry Manilow; from the Captain & Tenille to Captain Beyond; from George Jones to George Lynch! But our music, sound and style are our own and no one else's ... and we wish to be judged on the quality of our music and our performances, NOT ON OUR LOOKS! We rock hard and boldly, but we're not afraid to add acoustic instrumentation when appropriate. A little variety is not a bad thing!
What equipment do you use?
Varies depending on the size of the venue we're asked to play.
Anything else?
Always do what you can to protect and strengthen our fragile First-Amendment right of freedom of expression. Oppose censorship at every turn! Always be what YOU want to be and don't let anyone else tell you what to be, what to believe, or how to feel. Always be true to yourself, which is not to be confused with the meaningless pseudo-philosophy "be yourself." And remember this, FEELINGS ARE NEVER WRONG. FEELINGS AREN'T ABOUT RIGHT AND WRONG. YOU FEEL THE WAY YOU FEEL AND NO ONE ELSE CAN OR SHOULD TELL YOU WHAT TO FEEL OR HOW TO FEEL!
