I am a songwriter. Whenever I am strongly moved I get a song. They come lyric and melody, a verse or chorus with imagined instrumentation I can never quite reproduce.
I used to bring my songs to the band, start singing with my clumsy guitar or keyboard playing outlines and the band would fill in the colors, bringing the song to life.
These days I am crafting my songs myself, using the amazing assortment of audio interfaces and plug-ins to create intriguing stories in sound. Imagining the tracks supporting the mood or emotion of a scene or creating the excitement to support action in a game.
My newer Songs and Electronica instumentals are created as mood, emotion and action soundscapes for licensing and sync opportunities. Learning Music Production as I go, the songs at the top of the list are "Broadcast Quality" some below are still a work in progress.
The 16 live songs from "Live at Joseph Court" were recorded on a Yamaha AW16G digital recorder, one or two room mics in our small rehearsal space during our Thursday night rehearsals ( jams), and edited and EQ'd with a few overdubs added in Pro Tools. There are Protest Songs, Rock, Reggae, Afro-pop, Ballads and ...a Waltz
I sang & played percussion in several bands performing mostly original music, from the punk modern Tectonics, the reggae Harbour Rats and the afro-caribbean Poco Loco. Clubs, Halls, Festivals, Weddings and lots of fun events the music was always all about moving people literally & figuratively, getting them moving, dancing & sometimes singing along. Rhythm is key & so is Melody!
Growing up "our Band" was the Young Rascals. Their diverse melodies and lyrics, complete with Social commentary, were a big influence on my songwriting. African, Latin and World rhythms,...I have always loved a strong rhythm supporting a moving melody, Santana, David Lindley, Brian Eno, Roxy Music, The Neville Brothers, Carlyto, The Malo Poets, Oliver Mtukudzi, Cesaria Evora. Inspiration for my Ballads ...Laura Nyro, Patti Scialfa, Traci Nelson.
I love current artists Chris Stapleton, Lewis Capaldi, Khalid, Billie Eilish, Kane Brown, Brandi Carlile, Miley Cyrus, Lauren Jauregui and so many amazing vocalists like Sia, Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson, Loreen, Beth Hart + many more
I am currently using an Alesis Micron analog modeling synth, Roland SPD11 percussion pad, Apogee Quartet, RodeNT 2000 mic and ProTools.
The live songs were recorded on a Yamaha AW16G, using one or two microphones in our small rehearsal space to capture the room. EQ and editing and a few overdubs done with an Mbox and Pro Tools.
I would love to hear from anyone interested in collaborating, producing, performing or using any of these songs for any purpose.
