"Orange Drive To Seer Street" came out in April 2002. It was the debut album of doublePark and included twelve tracks. All mellow songs where the main purpose of the music was to enhance the lyrics and create a fitting and interesting mood for each song. Instrumentation featured acoustic guitar, vibraphone, tambourine and plenty of vocal harmonies.
The album lyrics are dealing with lots of heartache, reminiscing , troubled youth, self pity and bitterness. The album was a solo effort by Johan Prosell. Born in Stockholm, Sweden he grew up listening to Kiss and Van Halen. He had to start a band.
At eighteen he moved to Hollywood, California to pursue his dreams. About a year later he came home with 1 telecaster, 200 t-shirts and a bar tab the length of Sweden. Good Times. Many bands and new musical influences later he decided to put out a record of his own. A collection of songs written over ten years. Instead of naming it 1992-2002 which sounds like a greatest hits album, he chose to name it after the streets he lived on while writing those songs.
"After Hours" came out a year later in April 2003. The second album had ten tracks and was different in every aspect. Johans childhood friend Lars Sköld who mixed "Orange Drive....." joined doublePark right after its release. During 2002 they played live and co-wrote the songs that ended up on "After Hours". Lyrical topics feature infidelity, spousal celebration, loneliness, revenge, attempting murder and lovesick fools. Lars (originally a drummer) produced, mixed, played guitar, bass, drums and sang harmonies. He also sang lead vocals on the song "1-800 Lonely". That song was written by Johan and good friend Richard Krantz. Richard was supposed to play some pedal steel on about two songs but ended up on pretty much all of them. As well as a co-write and playing some guitars it's easy to say he had a huge impact on the sound. Another friend playing on the album was Henrik Bergqvist who contributed with guitars and bass.
"My Destroyer" took three years to be released. During this time Johan kept busy writing songs for the next album as well as having and raising two children. He also wrote songs with friend/artist Jonna Lee. Together they've written about a double albums worth of songs and time will tell which ones will end up for public display. Lars toured and recorded with Tiamat, the band he's been a member of since 1993. He also took time off to build a recording studio where he's producing other artists. During this time doublePark contributed to a Rolling Stones tribute album by recording the classic "Angie". Jonna Lee and Johan also had two songs in the swedish movie "Babylonsjukan".
"My Destroyer" has eleven tracks all written by Johan except "California" which is co-written with Henrik Bergqvist. This time the instrumentation includes acoustic, electric and bass guitars. Drums, percussion, horns, strings, and a variety of different pianos and organs. And of course a massive amount of harmony vocals. Jonas Öijvall is featured on seven tracks playing rhodes, wurlitzer, piano, synthesizer and accordion. Gustav Karlöv is featured on four tracks playing wurlitzer, piano, synthesizer and melodica. They're both amazing musicians who really made the songs come alive with beautiful, raw, groovy, tasteful and all around cool performances. Jonna Lee added some lovely harmony vocals and so did dear friend Johan Rombin. Everything else on the album was performed, programmed, produced and mixed by Johan Prosell. Lyrical topics feature sex, pipe dreams, heartache from hell, committing murder and celebrating love and music.
