I write songs - LOTS of SONGS. I sing and play all sorts of stuff - guitars, bass, sax, vocals ... no drums. I am hopeless on the drums so I get the best loops I can find. Check out my free unplugged recordings on ezpowell.com

Gavin Powell - I play everything for now but I intend to just sing it eventually. I would much rather work with a full band. Writing is my current priority. Anyone interested in jamming and/or joining in - just contact me but I am not in any hurry.
Gavin's band is called "The EZPowell Band", or just "EZPowell". After a 20 year hiatus in writing songs, Gavin has gone back to his musical roots.
The music is a blend of American soft rock, British rock, slightly bluesy, and maybe just a little bit jazzy, with some African rhythms thrown in.
In the past 6 months Gavin has penned another 40 to 50 songs. Some are good, some are bad, but people people seem to like different ones. That might actully be a good sign. What shall the world think? Will they like it? Only time will tell. But he is having fun with it anyway.
A consultant, a technical writer, an experimental novelist, gardener, house doer-upper, and sometimes black-'n'wrecker house-mucker-upper. But mostly a semi-professional musician with almost 30 years of experience of songwriting and playing instruments.
When it comes to song writing, "I love melody, and harmony sometimes even more. My lyrics are intentionally simplistic. I hope to strike a chord with many. An emotion. Perhaps an image in your mind. When I try to write lyrics intellectually, the material winds-up a little too protest-era for my taste, and just out of date. So I keep it simple and silly. Most of them are silly love songs, of one form or another."
Yes. Open Mics whenever I can. Love it! When I break a string.
Dire Straits, JJ Cale, Chris Rea, Eric Clapton, Grateful Dead, Matchbox20, Rob Thomas, Lionel Richie, Bob Seger, Jewel, Van Morisson, Keith Urban, Wishbone Ash, Zed Zep, Carlos Santana, Jaco Patorius, John Martyn, Pink Floyd, The Cure, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Flea, Supertramp, Elton John, , Louis Armstrong, Paul McCartney, Mozart, Pucinni, Norah Jones, Katy Mehlua. ... there are just too many to list. Anything from Mozart to Led Zep suits me. I am told I am a jazzy, kind of bluesy, American version of Dire Straits. I have been accused of being jazzy more often, than of being bluesy.
