I drown myself in love songs just for you...
...and the Drop began to shape itself in the fall of 2005. Bjorn had been working in Madeira since the spring, grabbing a job opportunity, very far from his native Norway, but which also meant time to think and plunge deeply into his songwriting. It was at work that Bjorn met Dieter and they soon discovered a common passion and similar tastes in music. Bjorn showed his music to Dieter, and after a while the idea came up to do a gig before Bjorn returning home. While the opportunities to play live did not abound, the chance came in the form of a contest in early December. With only the two of them, a handful of Bjorn's songs and a couple of weeks until the contest, this seemed an almost impossible idea. Dieter turned to his longtime friends and former fellow blues journeymen Hélder and António, and they took the challenge immediately. The four started rehearsing at António's garage, and despite all the deadlines and limitations, the empathy was there from the start. Within days, they had several fully achieved songs in their hands. Soon Dieter also invited Hector to sit in and play acordeon in one or two songs. Hector really enjoyed the music and soon became a full-time member of the band, revealing himself as an excellent pianist and occasional percussionist. Bjorn had been playing under the name of 'Silver Surfer', and so the band was billed as 'Silver Surfer and the Tidal Waves' for this first gig. The gig itself proved their efforts worthy, and none of them wanted to end the experience at that point. Plans were made and minds focused, and it was decided among all that they should carry on as a band and go as far forward as possible in grasping their full potential.
Silverdrop was born.
