One third mid-1970s New York punk, one third glam rock and one third paisley underground. The indie rock band The Plastic Pals from Stockholm, Sweden could be described as the missing link between Television and Green on red. Daringly dwelling in a musical tradition where there's a thin line between being original and merely being a carbon copy, the band succeeds in adding a flavour of their own. the flavour of a ripe fruit as the Italian music webzine Nerds Attack! puts it in a review of The Plastic Pals debut CD-EP The band that's fun to be with.
Band/artist history
After a million years of free-floating in space from galaxy to galaxy, at last the mothership of The Plastic Pals has found a permanent crew and a permanent base in of all places in the Universe Stockholm, Sweden. This eminent outofthisworldish four-piece guitar rock combo was formed in Spring 2005 when songwriter/guitarist/singer Håkan Soold (ex Guds Barn and Dom Dummaste, currently apart from this band playing with two of Dom Dummaste - the most stupidest Lars Cleveman and Martin Rössel - brought together Anders Sahlin (a guitarist whom he played with in a band called Piglet in the 1980s) with Swedens answer to Sly&Robbie Olov Öqvist (drummer with Caroline Says/Cleveman Rössel Band/Plåster and Wan Light) and Bengt Alm (bass player with Caroline Says/Cleveman Rössel Band and Wan Light). Take the fiery guitars of bands like Television, The FlaminGroovies and Gun Club and a pinch of Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground, add to a groovy boiling base of drums and bass, mix with a great sense of melody. There you have the taste and sound of The Plastic Pals. In April 2006The Plastic Pals released their debut CD-EP "The band thats fun to be with" on their own label Polythene records - that could be purchased via CD Baby: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/plasticpals Hence were what people often refer to as a self-signed band. However, we would very much want to cooperate with labels as for licensing, distribution, etc. That especially applies for our full length debut-CD which we are planning to release during 2007. So if dig our music and youre interested in working with us, feel free to contact us.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes. Up to now weve only played in our home town - Stockholm, Sweden. But we really like playing live and wed love to play in other towns and countries as well. A special moment was the relase gig for our debut CD-EP in april 2006. The club was packed and there was a really good atmosphere.
