I come from a musical family - Mom was a singer, Dad played clarinet, many of my other relatives sang or played instruments. I trained classically to begin with, mainly strings and brass and later bass guitar. In my late teens I got very interested in electronic music, and with the broadening of opportunity that came about with home PCs and music software I was able to start experimenting and creating my own.
I would like to say that as I have NO vocal skills whatsoever - all the vocals I use are a mixture of samples and/or the voices of friends who have kindly donated their talent. Sorry to disappoint the kind people who commented on my singing - only in my dreams, unfortunately !
I prefer to be in the background - I was always more interested in the technical/creative side, as opposed to performing for an audience.
A very wide and eclectic range of musical interests - rock, heavy metal, death metal, thrash metal, industrial metal, pop, dance, trance, techno, house, R&B, hip-hop, reggae (especially dub and roots), twos-step, ragga, garage, classical (particularly baroque), opera, country, ballads, indie, songs and songwriters, Christian music, 1930s and 1940s dance bands, old Hollywood musicals, Arabic, Turkish, Algerian, Rai, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and French pop music, Hindi pop and Bollywood songs ! The only genre of music I don't like is modern jazz... apologies to any modern jazz fans out there, but to me it sounds like the music they would play in Hell. I also own up to liking the Vengaboys and Kylie :)
A reasonable sized, albeit very slow, PC and my main software is Making Waves. I'm still attempting to get my head round Cubase, and I'm hoping at some point to upgrade to better equipment.
