FAQ
Why would I need a license?
A license is needed if you want to use the music for anything else than just listening for your pleasure. Typical uses are
  • freestyling over a beat
  • licensing music for use in TV or for a movie
  • remixing or use audio samples
What are the license options and what are the differences between those?
We offer up to 5 license templates (Basic, Premium, Track Out, Unlimited, Exclusive) and it's up to the artist which ones he/she wants to make available. Each license comes with different perks. In general, the higher the price, the better the perks.
You can click on each feature on the left side of the comparison chart above to learn more about each one.
When will I get the track I purchased?
You can download all related files immediately after your purchase. We also email you a one-time download link for a download later.
How can I remove the audio tag from the track?
A "tagged beat" is a demonstration version of an instrumental that contains distinct audio watermarks that typically play throughout the entire track. The purpose of a producer tagging his/her instrumental is to prevent piracy and to encourage serious recording artists to purchase a license.
To get a tag-free audio please make sure you purchase a license which features "untagged audio".
I purchased a $1 download, why is the beat still tagged?
Beats purchased for $1 in our store are meant for streaming and demo use only, just like downloads from iTunes store or Amazon music.
To license a beat without audio tag and to use in a professional manner please buy a license from this page. Usually those are $25 and up.
What is a stem / trackout file?
A Stem file is an audio file that contains a track split into several musical elements: A drums stem, a bassline stem, a harmony stem, and a lead stem for example.
The Stem file also usually includes the original stereo master of the track for standard playback.
Why would I need a stem / trackout file?
A trackout file gives you much better control. Imagine you rap over a beat and you realize the percussions take the focus away from your vocals. With a trackout file you can simply tone down the percussion and the focus is now on the vocals. With a trackout file you have much more flexibility and a whole different level of control.

Thank you for visiting my music pages here on Soundclick.com! Also, please be sure to check out my Soundcloud page at SoundCloud.com/David-e-farmer And my new YouTube channel "Digital Doxology" where I will be uploading video versions of my new music... Also, I've noticed that some of my previously uploaded song material on Soundclick is not working properly (Pictures not showing up and songs not playing) if you notice any, please send me a message about it - thank you! (I am trying to catch and correct these - but always run across a few more I missed) DF
Band/artist history
I have been writing/arranging/composing music since I bought my first guitar and piano. I jumped into electronic music after a friend of mine let me play around with his brand new Roland Jupiter 8 back in the early 80's, after that I was addicted to it! A few years later I was in debt to the local music store for a lot of money as I invested in all the gear I could reasonably get my hands on! I've played all kinds of music - I was able to pay my way through college, by playing music on weekends. I became a member of the Mp3.com "artist community" in 1999 - If anyone remembers the original Mp3.com site - there was an abundance of great original music on there. Unfortunately, I feel that the "powers to be" within Mp3.com, became too over confident and pushed the company too far, too fast - and it failed. Many good independent artists suffered as a result. I used to list my music under the name "Soulspace Music" until I decided to just list it under my name as D. E. Farmer. I thank you for listening - Enjoy the music.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I've been a music teacher (K-8) since 1985 as well as a being involved in many other musical projects on the side. I Played live music with a four piece band during my college years to help pay the bills and get gas money AND to help buy more music gear! I have been involved in one way or another with music since I was a small boy, creating and playing music has been, and always will be my passion... Not only have I composed the electronic/instrumental music on this page - but I've also composed and conducted several of my own choral arrangements for piano/organ and SATB choir.
Your musical influences
So many!! Mannheim Steamroller, Windham Hill, Saint-Saens, Ray Lynch, Will Ackerman, Billy Joel, Ralph Vaughn Williams, The Carpenters, Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago, Dan Fogelberg, Neil Diamond, the Beatles, John Williams, Martin Lindhe... to name a few!I'm also now beginning to realize that years spent singing Choral music has also been a huge influence in my music... there is a strong choral/vocal element in much of my music.
What equipment do you use?
Mainly now I use my Korg Kronos (73 key), I also have a Korg Krome 88 key - my newest addition is my Roland Fantom - 06 I love this one for live gigs since it's so light and easy to carry around vs. the Korg, Tascam DP-24sd Digital Recorder, Ovation and Yamaha guitars, my Macbook computer etc. etc.. I love to try different instruments too - I even have an African rain stick that I've used a couple of times!
Anything else?
Just enjoy the music - if you like it - let me know! Some of these songs were meticulously composed over a period of time, however many of these songs just came in the moment and flowed out of me... There are flaws in them, you may hear them or not but they are like paintings, but with sound instead of oils or water colors. Hope you enjoy them. There are some of these songs that I've composed where I started with an idea or two and then just took off from there and improvised the whole song track by track - I could never ever recreate some of them again if I even tried - an example of this is "Sea Winds" That is the best example I could give you of something that I've created purely as a product of improvisation and a true "one-off" I layered several tracks one by one until I had just the right mix of what I was hearing in my head.
