Band/artist history
Came together over tea and pastries, a love of all odd things musical, a shared lack of talent and ability and occasionally writing about other people's music. Came apart when one started working, one started courting and one started child-rearing. Meet now for chat and curries about three times a year! But the spirit is still strong and never say never.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We played live once in Birmingham as a gig. Else we always play live, we are an improvising trio, (and occasionally more)
Your musical influences
Varies and various usually none of the things we are compared to! Bodge loves his prog, Cris loves his noise, Gordon loves everything except C&W and opera. The result is an experimental ambient industrial mush Other people have referred to Can, GYBE, Tangerine Dream, The Orb, krautrock, industrial, Hawkwind, Chrome, Will Sergeant, Steve Roach
What equipment do you use?
whatever we can lay our hands on
Anything else?
Here are some of things that have been said about us: 'If I were to offer a home grown sound bite of my own I'd say it's music for vampires to make love to' 'They are sort of CAN meets Godspeed You Black Emperor via Will Sergeant.'; 'There aren't many bands who can create such a genuinely unsettling atmosphere with written compositions'; 'kinda steve roach/robert rich in places ... I dug it'; 'Sound007 is a nice piece of abstract ambient music. Definitely a kraut influence, but more experimental than most kraut. Almost industrial'; 'krautrock on valium'; 'brilliant'; 'reminscent of early 70s experimental bands'; 'vaguely like The Orb'; 'very intense!'; 'Reminded me a little of Tangerine Dream circa 1970 Electronic Meditation era'; 'Weird name for this Dudley (West Midlands, England) weirdo space-rock band, kinda early Hawkwind meets Chrome & industrial music in a stasis chamber.' (Thanks Ultima Thule!!); 'The 007 is way too experimental for my tastes. The Mars one is better, but I am generally bored with TD Phaedra type stuff.' 'a band to watch out for' (this last comment on the Radio Caroline show Dance on a Volcano). As I'm listening to 'Jeremy Starsurfs at a LaGrange Point' I'm getting the feeling that I'm swimming against a pulsating tide of sound that is washing over me and slowly drawing me to it's center. I'm searching for the center but I'm constantly being pounded by the puslaing waves of sound. Before I know it I realize I've been pulled into the center only to realize I've lost the shore and feel a need to look for a way out. The center of the mix is keeping me distracted to the point where I forget about the shore and just ride along effortlessly. I've experienced the same thing when I saw the Tibetan Llamas doing a twenty minute chant where I got lost in the harmonic overtone that seems to hover over their heads. You tend to loose track of time when this happens. It can be pretty fun when you make it through to the end.
