Bad Dog U is an instrumental quartet that plays progressive rock/jazz fusion. We've had a loyal cult following in the Chicago area for almost 20 years.
Bad Dog U formed around 1986, and has undergone a few personell changes over the years, but has always been commited to writing and playing music that is both fun and challenging. It took us a long time, but we finally released our debut CD in August of 2004.
We perform live sporadically. These days, we prefer playing at Martyr's on Lincoln Ave in Chicago. Some of our greatest moments were opening for The Dregs once, and The Steve Morse Band another time at Park West.
Our musical influences are the usual suspects in the world of progressive rock and fusion: Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, Chick Corea, Tribal Tech, Jeff Beck, The Dregs, Bruford, Allan Holdsworth
Ernie uses guitars that are custom made by Ed Reynolds. Aside from that, anything that sounds good is fair game.
