Jokr G. is a Chicago-born songwriter/singer/producer whose musical range spans from House, Pop, & R&B, to Jazz.
Jokr G. *started in Chicago's House Music scene. *Learned the art of performance under the tutelage of Charles Buie (Sweet Thunder's lead guitarist/vocalist/songwriter & Patti LaBelle's background vocalist for several years) *Learned production and worked with several music industry personalities in Los Angeles such as: Thomas Grant (keyboardist), Vivianne Greene (vocal coach & concert pianist), Jimmy George (Hit songwriter and producer) & Baldee Productions. *Relocated to Atlanta, GA and mastered production *Joined AQUSIS (pronounced "Access") in 1994 as 2nd lead vocalist, songwriter & producer. It was at this time that all previous experience was put to work. From performance, to recording, to management, the issue became a major label deal. Then the industry grew, despite itself, to include the internet. With this new technology, the only option for true creative freedom and expression was to go for the World instead of just the pearl.
On occasion, I may perform live, but I prefer to be the songwriter and producer behind the scenes. Just the House Producer in me, I guess.
Prince for musical freedom and sheer genius, Chicago House Musicians, including Farley, J.M. Silk and other locals, Charles Buie for that Funk edge and vocal prowess, Li'l Louie Vega, Teddy Riley, Peabo, Luther, Glenn Jones, and SO many more of the OHIO Funk Core (Ohio Players, Cameo, etc.)..
Various, but I prefer my Alesis QS-8 (or 7) connected to my Mac running old school midi stuff..
Much love to Southside Chicago fam.. You still got those tapes I put together? and Angie, you still got that ole Casio keyboard of mine? lol.
