Aier Sauft
Aier Sauft was formed as an international effort by a couple of electronic musicians who
have a distinct fetish for machines and synthesizers. They currently reside in San
Francisco, California.
Aier Sauft was formed in 2003 when a chance meeting took place at a local radio
station, featuring both JR and KK as artists on the show. After being introduced by a
mutual friend the two quickly hit it off and immediately began talking about music and
their fondness of vintage synthesizers and related hardware. They agreed to meet later
that week at JRs studio where they cut their first track in no time. Seeing the
possibilities in their abilities to work so well together, the two decided to form Aier Sauft
and have been making music regularly ever since, continually pushing the boundaries
of conventional electronic music.
The subject matter of the Aier Sauft sound is sometimes regarded as taboo, and carries
a feeling of sadness with a twist of absurdity. It is often referred to as a juxtaposition of
genres and can not be defined by one style of music. The members, being from such
different musical backgrounds, give Aier Sauft a unique sound that has sparked a new
self proclaimed genre known as electrobreaklash. Featuring blends of electro, house,
break beat, synth pop, new wave and more. Aier Sauft combines catchy dance grooves
with hard driving dance floor beats and haunting vocals that take you on an emotional
ride, making you wanna move.
JR was always influenced by art and music. Being raised in the 80's gave him a fresh
perspective on a new sound that was emerging from all corners of the globe. This new
wave, electro sound helped propel JRs musical taste quickly towards synthesized, non
organic music. He began collecting old electro records and after seeing a movie with a
DJ in it, he decided thats what he was going to do. Soon after starting a DJ career in
early 1992, JR purchased a keyboard sampler/ workstation and quickly fell in love with
producing. He enrolled in a local music institution where he received a degree in sound
and continued a successful DJ career until he began engineering full time at a local
studio.
KK was introduced to music at the age of 12 when he received his first guitar. Once in
high school, he began experimenting with several different keyboards, synthesizers,
drum machines and audio production software, writing as many as 65 electronic songs
by the time he was 18 with a handful of them floating out there on the market. KK is
currently studying audio production at a university and plans on achieving a masters in
sound design. His influences span from Click Hop to Synth Pop and everything in
between adding an eclectic and unique perspective to the Aier Sauft sound.
