Has Long Island ever seen an independent record label whose primary focus is representing its hood to the fullest?
Probably not until now. Enter Distant World Records, the up-and-coming label built on the Island, based on the Island and boasting the Island like never before. Sean Hunter ($-Easy), Donovan McLeod ( Horns) and Eugene Hunter (Gene Kennedy) serve as CEOs, Reggie Dogue (Suits) Vice President, while Will Smiley (Smiley) serves as director of marketing of this budding enterprise. These young, ambitious men are guaranteed to take the industry by storm with their impressive roster of hot, new talent.
Tired of their “borough” getting no love, founders $-Easy and Horns gathered a group of rappers, producers and DJs who possessed the same drive, focus and fervor as they did. They then brought in Gene Kennedy, Suits and Smiley who were just as determined to make an indelible name for Long Island.
Distant World Records hosts an open mic every Sunday night. Sign up and show your talent or come down to support and enjoy the show.
