The Illusion Principle
Dundee, United Kingdom
December 02, 2005
The Illusion Principle is a Post Hardcore Alternative rock band based in Dundee. Strong lyrical influences draw from cult movies, TV culture and their own subconscious projections. The band has secreted references to these influences away for the fans who want to dig deeper while still having musical attraction to casual fans. The band draws musical influence from Biffy Clyro to Thrice via Coheed and Cambria. The band is looking to play gigs around Scotland to increase their fan base and hone their live ability. Formed in August 2005 TIP, self-recorded a 6 track E.P. Three Invisible Paths in November 2005 and launched it at their first gig. Second E.P. Growth, fall and Decay was again self-recorded in March 2006 and comprised of four songs. Each song has a different musical journey through the bands scant regard for conventional song structure, simple three chord pop this is not. The Illusion Principle is a four piece band with two guitars, bass, drums and three vocals. They are a band full of energy and melodic tunes who managed to draw a 150 person crowd to Dundees Westport Bar at only their second gig. The band is Ross Allison (Vocals/Guitar), Dave Newton (Guitar/Vocals), Matt Stainer (Bass/Vocals) and Adam Hobson (Drums). The band all share music and lyric writing duties. The Illusion Principle are taking guitar, bass and drums, twisting it into something new and taking it to the people.
