Ein Stuhl In Der Hölle

Einstürzende Neubauten cover reduced to just percussion and vox. Title translates to 'a chair in hell'.

Ethanol Rock

We wanted to open Magus differently from our other albums, so we put Ein Stuhl... and this rather slow song at the beginning.

Du Gehst!

Cacophonous song. Sort of sounds like a hardcore version of Captain Beefheart or something.

Perkussiver Sturm

Actually, this is Du Gehst! with vox, guitar and bass removed. C.A. felt that his (bongos) and Bo Riss's (drumpads) performance were strong enough to stand on their own, so he included it as a sort of filler.

Magus

Title track from our 3rd (new) album. Very coherent. The electronic drum pads give a stronger rhythmic backbone than most other EKB material.
Fast-paced lo-fi Noise Rock from Bavaria, Germany. Noisy, high-pitched guitar, heavy, downtuned bass, bongos and other percussion instead of a drumkit.
Band/artist history
The Edward Kasperl Band was formed in 2004 in Tittmoning/Bavaria/Germany by lead singer/guitarist Edward Kasperl, bongoist C.A. Sinclair and guitarist Der Finstere Imperator. The three-piece soon recorded their groundbreaking debut EP "Tittmoning Vs The World". After the release they fired Imperator to recruit a bassist instead: Fät Tsöäck. In 2005, they recorded their second EP, "EKB Bleibt", which took their music to new extremes having a more complex and cacophonous sound. In mid 2006 EKB released their debut album, "Brother Brain", containing 16 tracks of frantic, fast-paced noise rock with heavy, grinding, noisy (but undistorted)bass. In late 2006, EKB recruited a second percussionist, Bo Riss, who plays things an Indian dholak drum or Tibetan temple cymbals. With Bo, EKB recorded their 2nd full-length album, "Spastische Klanglandschaften", which took an entirely different route than earlier records: Instead of consisting of many short songs, this new album consists of 4 lengthy, improvised numbers. In 2007, EKB completed their new album, Magus (13 songs, 29 mins). Percussionist Bo Riss plays an electronic drum kit on most of the songs, giving them a stronger rhythmic backbone (and C.A. more room for improvisations) than before. But at the same time, the band began branching out, taking on a less riff-driven approach and exploring post-punk, psychedelia and industrial music.
