Rock, with some acoustic and keyboards; instrumental.
Well, I am my band. I am currently looking for a band, but since I love to play virtually any style as a band, I thought it would be nice to play my own music and let others hear it. I have been playing guitar since Fall of 1994 and was influenced greatly by the grunge era in the early '90s. As Grunge/Alternative left the scene, I was drawn to bands such as Third Eye Blind and Matchbox 20. It was around that time, 1997, that I joined a Christian Rock band and really began to create a style for myself. After joining the military in 1998, I had a short hiatus until 2001 when I joined a band that played hard rock. The experience was great as I learned to a new way of playing the guitar and explored more depths as a musician. The band broke apart early 2002. Since 2004, I have been playing on my own, exploring a more acoustic side and also revisiting the way I played back in 1997. I have also learned a few more instruments and have started home recording, which I am still trying get right!
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I love to play live, but at the moment I do not. The best moment I have had was at a show for a church youth group activity at the church. In the front of the crowd was an autistic girl in a wheelchair that sat through our entire set. At the end of the day, she asked for a tape. To this day, she still plays that tape. I love playing music for that reason, you never know who you might affect and who might really benefit from your music.
Your musical influences
I am greatly influenced by U2, Jars of Clay, and Delirious. I think those bands have some great guitar work and their songs are always meaningful. I believe in writing lyrics that mean something and that convey a positive message.
What equipment do you use?
I use a Squier Strat Bullet, Squier Acoustic, Alvarez 12-String Acoustic, and a Squier P-Bass. I have a Zoom 505II pedal, but I mostly use the effects through the software Line 6 Monkey. I have a Fender Rumble 15 amp. The recording software is Guitar Tracks Pro 3 and will soon be upgrading my broken Line 6 TonePort UX1 for a Line 6 UX1.
